Futurama's back. Seriously this time.

You’re that Bubblegum Tate?

The only reason I’ve survived my many Futurama-related heart attacks is by refusing to get too excited by press reports. That said, this certainly sounds less contingent than other things in the past.

Although I own every Futurama episode on DVD, I find that I still watch whenever my TiVo picks it up, which happens with some frequency.

We have no cable.

weeps

Both links say that everybody is back.

**Bender- ** Oh your God!!

Sweet Zombie Jesus!!!
After all the false alarms, I was fearful not to find other confirmation, but now Reuters reports:

Okay, yeah. I’m idiot. Someone told me about this earlier and I didn’t bother to read the the actual articles.

BUT, I’d just like to point out that while the second link says that Billy West, Katie Sagal and Johin Dimaggio are all confirmed, nowhere does it say that everyone is returning. Phil LaMarr, Lauren Tom and Maurice LaMarche weren’t mentioned.

Wait a moment…

Damn.

That shuts me up. It would seem that I cannot read. :o

2008 seems so very far away now.

Could it possibly be?

I’m cautiously optimistic here. Been excited too many times in the past.

Just in case we didn’t believe it yet, here’s John DiMaggio confirming it yet again:

http://www.tvsquad.com/2006/06/22/new-episodes-of-futurama-coming-to-comedy-central-for-real/#c1645058

He mentions “Maurice” so I think it’s safe to say that Mr. LaMarche will be back.

I have to wonder what kind of success the show will have on Comedy Central, particularly if they program it to compete against the Adult Swim block. CC hasn’t gone for “brainy” comedy since, well, Mystery Science Theater 3000, and that was a looong time ago. Digits crossed …

That’s a good point. Or maybe this means that they’ve dropped the “four made-for-DVD-movies” project in favor of bringing back the series. In an ideal world, of course, we’d get both the four movies and a new series. But I’ll be happy with whatever new content I get.

I’m just grateful it’s back, or rather that it soon shall be.

Same here. I’ll remain agnostic until I see a Cafe Society thread discussing the first of the new episodes.

pinkfreud, You win the thread.

This news is better than an amusement park on the moon…an amusement park on the moon WITH blackjack and hookers!

Windmills do not work that way!! Goodnight!!

“Morbo can’t understand his Teleprompter. He forgot how you say that letter that looks like a man with a hat.”
“It’s a T, it goes tuh.”
“Hello little man. I WILL DESTROY YOU!”
“And that’s why the third graders at PS139 are Morbo’s Vermin Of The Week.”
“Pitiful humans! Prepare to write down the recipe!”

Sweet manatee of Galilee, this is wonderful! I’ll be watching those new episodes faster than a green snake in sugar cane field.

You jerked the words right out of my mouth!

All his minor character voices were also great.

“Are there no further bids for this exquisite galaxy? Sold! To the being of inconceivable horror!”
“MWAA HA HA HA HA!..Will a money order be OK?”
“Yes.”
“MWAA HA HA HA HA!!!”

The only drawback to this, from my personal standpoint, is that new episodes of Futurama will almost certainly have the effect of causing my husband to urge me to dye my hair purple. Hubby has a big crush on Leela, and the sight of that perky ponytail always gives him ideas. The last time we had a Futurama-watching marathon, he was hinting around for weeks about purple hair.

At least he doesn’t expect me to have eye surgery.
