"G.I. Joe: Resolute"--anyone else watch it?

Y’know, Warren Ellis’ PG-13* G.I. Joe treatment, as aired last night on the Cartoon Network, and has been available as “Webisodes” for a few days?

C’mon, I’ve got some nerdy, pithy comments to make!

*In other words, “‘Blood?’ Blood. Crimson copper-smelling blood, his blood. Blood. Blood. Blood.”

Been avoiding it on purpose.

Saw it. Loved it.
The animation was impressive, imho, and I don’t miss the laser rifles shooting colored beams one bit.

I saw it…it was everything I wished the old GI Joe cartoons had been.

I watched the first hour or so with my husband, but then I wandered off. He enjoyed it, but then he was familiar with the characters so he brought more to the experience than I did. I hate that animation style, and didn’t have any connection to the characters, so it just played like a greatest hits of action-movie/kung-fu movie cliches.

Well…now I have something to keep me busy at work:D

The animation style reminds me a bit of Peter Chung’s (Aeon Flux, The Animatrix).

Alas, but for his death in 1994, I’d have said Chris Latta would have been born to voice one of Chung’s anorexic spider-gimps. :frowning:

(And please understand that I say “Anorexic Spider-Gimps” with all fondness and deepest respect.)

I’ve seen Resolute online and I’m really not that impressed with it. Just because they’re killing characters, doesn’t necessarily make it better. Plus, I’m a huge fan of Major Bludd ever since I got his first figure through mail order way back when.

I never was a big fan of the Sunbow cartoons. I watched them, but I liked the comics a lot better. I thought for the most part that Larry Hama’s characterizations and story lines were superior. Not counting the awesome unbeatable ninja scorpion death formation.
