Ah, crap. Well, I usually check that. I guess we can just let this sit for a week then. If a mod would like to change the date in the title to April 3rd that’d be good.
“Cute” is exactly the word I would use for it. The plot (such as it was) was pretty pointless and lame, though. Not to mention that this was the second episode in a row that was rehashing an idea from a previous season.
Not a great episode. It would have been awful if not for Rob Schrab’s excellent directing and his voice work as cobra commander. He gave it a nice Venture Bros. vibe, especially during the Destro memorial scene.
You know, I didn’t think it was all that good. I mean it was cool that all the old G.I. Joe stuff was being done, but aside from that… though I did love when Jeff was like, of course we want to kill them, what’s wrong with you people.
The GI Joe parody stuff was hilarious. I loved the first half. When it actually tried to turn it into a Community plot, it lost me. All the characters were great, though. Britta as “Buzzkill” hahaha.
I haven’t gotten a chance to watch the episode but a buddy of mine got to do a bunch of sound editing for this (he also does sound for the Harmontown podcast and a bunch of other stuff in the LA area).
Wow. I have never seen an episode of Community that had nothing for me. From my point of view, worst episode ever. Maybe if I had watched GI Joe, I would feel different. But they have parodied things that I didn’t watch before and I could still enjoy those episodes.
It wasn’t the best. I don’t know if I didn’t love it because GI Joe wasn’t my favorite cartoon or if it just fell flat.
I did love how everyone flipped out when Jeff killed the guy. It was nice lampshade hanging on cartoon immortality. And I liked the end, taking down the terribly cheesy morals the show always had.
Did you guys hear slurred speech and slowed-down sound too? Not just in the animated segments but the live-action ones too? Was that a spoof of something?
