Gaah! I'm choking!

Apparently, several senior FBI officials staged a sham conference so that they could come to D.C., attend a colleague’s retirement party, and be reimbursed for their travel expenses (as it would be an “official visit for a conference”, not merely dropping by to say farewell to a friend).

The sham conference was titled “Integrity in Law Enforcement.”

I’m fucking choking on the irony here.

WTF? Losing papers, losing guns, losing laptops… what have you fuckwits been doing the last few years? And for top leadership to have the hubris to bilk money from the feds- under the direct guise of trying to implement a better sense of ethics in the department- what the fuck were you thinking? Didn’t you realize that nothing attracts journalists like the smell of irony?

Fucking idiots.

Recent budget legislation includes money for an “FBI Oversight Office”. About damn time. The Bureau needs to be saved from itself. Big time.

You think that’s bad, all those requests need to be filed with the Department of Redundancy Department, and they still made it through in time.

Uh-oh…now they’ve got the “Officers that watch the officers that watch the officers” (for those internal affair agents)? Will beauracratic wonders never cease?!?

Well, that just about sums it up right there. I guess they think that maybe some of their bigger mistakes weren’t being overlooked enough.

Talk about an image problem! I am sure there are persons in the FBI that are genuine and can be relied upon to perform their duties in accordance with the law. Someone needs to weed out the bad apples or no one will have any faith in anything the FBI does.

The real problem is one of leadership. The vast majority of agents want to do the right thing, they’ve just got no respected leaders to show them the way. Until they get the kind of leadership they deserve, they’re gonna have to deal with outsiders keeping tabs on them.

Is there a cite for this in something other than the Washington Times?

The agents who did this were caught, right? So this demonstrates that we need more FBI oversight how, exactly?

I don’t think this is a new story, btw. ISTR reading about it quite a while ago.
