I took these a couple minutes ago outside the front of our house. It just started snowing last night at about 5. Stopped for a couple hours between midnight and 1 this afternoon, and now shows no signs of stopping again for the next two days.
Later I will come back here and link a picture of my snow from yesterday. All told we got at least 8 inches and more in some spots. I’m in the Idaho mountains, though not too far north, but at am a bit over 5800 feet so it snows pretty good here when it wants to.
It actually warms up when it snows here. It’s 22F right now and will probably get a bit warmer today.
Compared to the single digit temps we were having a week or so ago, this is downright comfy.
I couldn’t get online at home at all yesterday. I will keep trying. And as it’s snowing again, I should be able to get more good pics. There’s upwards of a foot right now, and it’s showing no signs of stopping…
Hey Nailbunny,
I live in Sparks…I keep hoping we’ll get more snow…I’m a school teacher and I would love our first day back from winter break to be a snow day!
Me too - I’m dreading the thought of having to drive my Scion to work tomorrow…if it just snows a little more, I think they’d close it (I work in the Sierra Pacific building)…
We’re just a little downstream from you in Elko. The wind gusting to 60 mph+ was entertaining friday night.
'Bout 6" of snow on the ground here if you discount for what’s drifting in from your neck of the woods …
I’ve got to do a 300 mile trip in this [DEL]shit[/DEL] white stuff tomorrow morning. Hope it lets up a little. Honestly, this state is getting almost as paranoid as CA about chains for the big rigs. Every time more than 6 snow flakes stop off in Carlin for a cup of coffee they invoke the chain law!
Chaining up the rig is not my idea of entertainment!
Yep, I’m in the middle of it, don’t think I’ll leave the house this weekend. I’m way up north in the hills. I was just thinking I needed winter boots and it was driven home after getting snow up to my knees after a simple walk to the car.
Yeah, it’s a shame what happened in Fernley - pictures in the paper look like Katrina. Happily, there were no injuries, although sadly much property damage and many people displaced from their homes.
Hasn’t snowed all day and a great deal has melted on the roads, which is good news for us as we were able to head out, do laundry, grocery shop and all that hoo-ha. I’m not quite as apprehensive about driving to work tomorrow. Apparently the next big wave isn’t going to hit for another couple days.
Ah, but schools here are delayed two hours tomorrow. All the snow that melted on the roads will get icy again by morning. Woo hoo! I don’t have to be to work until 11:00 tomorrow morning.
