Does anyone else have the problem with file transfer not working with gaim (connected to aim)? I’m currently using Windows XP, gaim v 1.2.0, and before you ask, no, i’m not behind a firewall.

Is the person you are trying to send or receive the file from behind a firewall?
I don’t think so… besides I can file/send with aim, just not gaim… so I’m pretty sure it’s not a firewall problem. Here’s a quick convo I had with a friend:

First of all, I don’t even know how to direct connect, I had to ask him to connect to me… but it didn’t work. Also, when I try to send a file I just get the transfer manager thing popup with no activity on it. I don’t know why it won’t work =(
I Googled a bit and it looks like there’s some issues with Gaim and direct connect.
I’ve used Gaim for a long time, but I’ve only tried to send a file once and we were both behind firewalls so I gave up right away.
Maybe it’s just not a good solution for sending files.
Well… I like everything about gaim except this one nagging problem. If I could get it to work it’d be perfect. My friend suggested trillian… I’ve never used it though, does anyone recommend it?
