I’ve read up a little on them (becuz of thier mention in this article) and they are really cute and cool looking (and sound cool)…
but further reading has revealed that they’ve been banned from import into the U.S. for fear of Monkeypox.
So my Q is: How can i cough… legally… get one?
A little Googling indicates that captive-bred rats are available. It’s only importation that is banned, not ownership or sale.
However, articles also indicate that these pets are not for everyone. I suggest you should read up on them extensively before even considering purchasing one. Many sites discussing these species as pets can be found on Google.
Oh, sure you may think the giant, pouched rat is oh so cute, and everything right now, but just wait until Sylvester and Junior (though Benny joins him) and try to catch the “giant mouse”.
All hell breaks loose.
