Who knew one cube shaped thing could bring so much happiness?
No that isn’t my question!!!
I was sitting happily playing Metroid when the screen went black and told me there was an error had occured and to consult the instruction book. I am lazy and the book was upstairs so I didn’t bother, I turned it off and tryed it again later and the same thing happened.
Anyway I read the instructions and followed them (hurrah!) unplugged it and now it’s fine.
But what does this message mean? Should I be worried? Will it happen again? Nintendo has never let me down will my cube go the way of the PS2? gahhhhhh!!!
If it mentioned a disc read error then it is a known problem. Apparently the long thin corridors you see occasionally are there to allow the GC to read in the data for the next room, but it is possible to go down the room too fast and try to get in before it has read all the data (or something) and you end up with the error.
I have got it once and only once in twenty-odd hours of playing.
amanset is correct… it’s well worth your while to stand and take pot shots at the bugs in the skinny hallways, even though it’s annoying and you can (usually) skip them with the morph ball. Those critters are there to slow you down for a reason…
The elevator between Tallon IV Overworld and Chozo Ruins (IIRC) is also somewhat notorious for generating freezes and error messages. Same reason amanset describes. It’s probably pure superstition, but I wait a bit before I get on this elevator to go either direction.
Speaking of getting stuck in Metroid, anybody else get caught in this weird feedback loop with the pit crawly things in the lava caverns (forget what they’re called)?
