Game of Thrones 2.10 "Valar Morghulis" 6/3/12 No Book Spoilers

Others in this thread have said it was Daxos’s men who had been killed in the dragonnapping, not Danaerys’s retinue.

It really wasn’t clear who was killed during the dragonnaping, it simply just makes more sense that it would be some expendable slaves than Danys few remaining people.

But given that they wanted to imprison Dany surely they would have killed as many of her people as possible.

Well i meant it made sense because we see that her people are still alive, not strategy wise.

Back in ep. 8, Qhoren (Koryn ? Qwhoren ? Let’s just call him Grizzled Ranger Guy) was telling Jon that “one brother inside Mance Rayder’s army is worth a thousand fighting against it” sotto vocce, before loudly arguing with him and shoving him down a hill. He sacrificed himself so that Jon would earn the Wildlings’ trust.

And I suspect Ygritte isn’t buying it. But she won’t talk, on account of Jon Snow’s “bohne” :).

Ser Jorah stabbed an illusion. Dany deep roasted the real deal.

But why would the real deal ever get within dragon breath range then, since it’s been established that the illusions have just as much physical power than the real deal ? Even more so if all his promising Dany would be the mother of dragons for “a thousand years” was no BSing and the warlocks really can prolong life as much as they want - in most fiction, nigh-immortal beings tend to have a highly paranoid sense of self-preservation. Which makes sense - they have much more to lose, after all.
The only explanation can be that Pyat Pree was retarded, and that’s hardly satisfying.

All I could do is laugh during Theon’s horn blowing scenes and yell “T’keyah! Truah! Svardim!”
It was a shofar.

Let me give you a handy mnemonic for that. Tyrion is the brains, Bronn is, well, the brawn.

Now that you guys mention it, the whole House of the Undying thing really doesn’t make any sense. However, as I watched the dude buy it, that never occurred to me because: a) OMG, finally something is starting to happen in that plot line; and b) motherfucking dragons burning bad guys alive.

In fact, the entire episode is kind of like that - they’re following so many threads, they could only spend 90 seconds on each character, which was frustrating. And quite a few things were confusing. On the whole this was dissatisf- LOOK AT THAT BADASS ZOMBIE HORSE!

Yeah, it was a direct result of spending a whole episode on just one of many plot lines, specially the penultimate episode. It just left too little time to tie up every lose end properly and set up next season. The episode even ran like ten minutes longer than usual, but i think two episodes after blackwater were really necessary.

Agreed. I watched it and thought “Badass dueling scar!”

Well, maybe Tyrion has no reason to be bummed out about a scar, but Peter Dinklage sure does. That’s gonna be an hour extra in the makeup chair every day.

In Tyrion’s defense, he didn’t really know what he looked like, he just went off Shae’s reaction.

I thought the scene with Shea was very touching. As far as Tyrion knows he just saved the city and nobody gives a fuck. In fact, those that matter give a negative fuck. He’s reviled as the Imp and the half-man. His family hates him because he’s so misshappened and now, on top of all that, he’s disfigured. That Shea still loves him even though he has lost his place, his protections and all his friends (even Vyres says he’ll be staying away from him) in King’s Landing politics and “looks like a mess” brought him to tears. It didn’t seem to me that he was crying over his scar at all.

Also, the bandage sticking to his wounds made me cringe worse than the zombie horseflesh.

I think it will be interesting to see how the soldiers react. They know what Tyrion meant to the battle, even Tywin’s men will have heard from those at King’s Landing. My guess is that Tyrion’s method back into the “game” will be through gaining favor with the common soldiers. He also has a commoner’s touch that is completely lacking all other Lannisters.

It was made clear by the clothes they were wearing. Quarti’s golden “skirts” rather than the kind of fur/hides Daenerys followers use.

I agree that it’s a bit unsatisfying, dramatically. But I think the answer is a combination of ignorance and hubris, plus a little bit of dragon-fire-is-super-magical-and-can-penetrate-all-sorts-of-defenses. So Pyat (a) had no idea the dragons could breath fire yet, (b) had already cast all sorts of magical protection spells to protect himself from just about everything he could think of, and (c) never really imagined there was a threat to begin with.

My theory is that the creation of the Wall sapped the magic from the world. Now that magic is leaking back, resurrecting the White Walkers in the process. One could also speculate that the lack of magic in the world is creating the unpredictable seasons.

The only real flaw I see in that is that the Walkers were already being shown active before the dragons were hatched.

Could Tywin’s crap treatment of Tyrion be part of a deeper plan? Blame Tyrion’s treatment on Joffrey … and who wouldn’t buy that? … and then more leverage to remove Joffrey from the throne. He can’t be thrilled with the kid. It’s an old technique right out of Machiavelli’s “The Prince.”

Speaking of the dragons, you know what would be funny ? If Viserys was right - when he was telling Doreah about the rows of dragon skulls in the Iron Throne room of his youth, he said the last, most recent dragon skulls were all deformed and stunted, the size of dog skulls.

I’d be tickled pink if Dany’s dragons never grew any bigger at all.
