Also something to consider is that the last time Jaime pushed his luck too far he came up a hand short. Maybe he’s learned something since then about being satisfied with what he can get. He and Brienne got away relatively unharmed. Risking that just to kill an asshole would have been stupid, even if it would have been satisfying.
It’s interesting that Tywin is getting information that Dany’s dragons are harmless. News travels slowly in the medieval world though, so it may be his latest reports are from when they were still babies.
They also killed Pyat Pree, the warlock in Qarth, and it seemed like all the men along the battlements in Astapor. The dragons look significantly bigger now too. Have they been growing episode by episode? The CGI budget must have gone up.
The dragons this episode were significantly bigger than even they were not long ago in Astapor. They’re really starting to look like a threat now. It actually seems kind of inconsistent, since I don’t think more than a few weeks has passed since Astapor, but maybe they were small before due to malnourishment and with the plentiful food they plundered from Astapor they’re growing fast.
It can’t be that much more expensive to simply show bigger dragons, i think most of the cost is just in having them there. And Jamie couldn’t push the Bolton guy into the bear pit because every single soldier in Harrenhal is a Bolton soldier, just because some of them were tasked with delivering him to King’s Landing doesn’t mean he can outright murder one and count on back up.
Apparently whatever dwarfed the ones born in King’s Landing (those Tywin described as having heads the size of apples) was unique to King’s Landing, since Dany’s seem to be growing quickly and are already bigger than appleheads.
Danarys hatching these in Drogo’s funeral pyre probably made some difference. Evidently they didn’t hatch or gestate or (whatever) right in Westeros. Plus they didn’t have a mommy like Danaerys.
BTW, Rob talking to Talisa about meeting her parents, her being pregnant, all that… he might as well be a police officer on the day before his retirement. Robb is not long for this world I’m sad to say, he’s an underrated character.
Plus imagine how uncomfortable it will get for Sansa if and when Robb captures the Lannister homebase. (And what if Sansa and Tyrion are in residence when Robb attacks?)
Hrm. Has me thinking. Is he poking at Joffrey to make him act like a better king, or poking in order to encourage Joffrey to do something stupid…something stupid enough that he’ll never be taken seriously, leaving Tywin in effective control of the kingdom for much longer than he might be once Joffrey marries?
I thought that the Seven were the old gods, such as Mel was burning in a previous season? And this episode, when Arya was asked which god she followed, she said ‘Death’. There has been plenty of mention of them all on the show, I believe.
