Good season finale in that it just opened up several new plots, but it didn’t have any jawdropping moments–close was that Shae was sleeping with Tywin now.
Very sad to see Tywin and the Hound go since they usually provided great scenes.
My prediction from a few weeks ago about how the Hound/Arya and Brienne/Pod meet up would end up tragically was pretty spot on. I like that they made it ambiguous from Arya’s perspective whether or not she should trust Brienne.
Also, Arya’s not going to Bravos. She’s going to the Wall. She asked the Captain to take her there and he said “No” he’s going home to Bravos. That’s when she then magic coined him to get him to take her.
So Stannis and his men took ships and landed north of the Wall, yes?
The one thing I wish is that we’d seen how Shae ended up with Tywin. I’ve found it hard to buy that she could really hate Tyrion so much to condemn him to death and then try to kill him herself.
It felt so empty there was no dialogue between them and almost none between son and father.
With dialogue, those two scenes could have been very rich and satisfying.
What would have been even more satisfying would have been to have seen Cersei’s reaction and some dialogue between her and Jaime. Or any kind of words of rage from her.
I was very disappointed with the skeletons rising from the snow. It just seemed like yet another CGI creation without any real relationship to the rest of the story. Perhaps if you go back to the very first episode, those skeletons may have been described. But without any background story showing any relationships between those creatures and the “Winter is coming” tale, it was just all so “ho hum”.
Sorry. I just found this episode very lacking. The fight between Brienne and The Hound was edited very poorly. Again, no dialogue with Arya to indicate how she felt about it all.
I just can’t see getting all excited about waiting 9.5 months to see another 10 episodes. This show felt like something really special when it began. But now it just seems to feel kind of stupid - especially Dani and her whacked dragons. The show would be much better if they just cut her out. And it would be enormously better if they cut out about half of the remaining characters.
Just my opinion. I know most of you seem to love this show. But it’s all just …
Very nearly got a little bit choked up there myself–or rather, when her babies realized she was turning her back on them. Of course, I’m not the standard GoT watcher; I sympathize a bit more with the dragons than most. But still… a bit of a catch in the throat, at least.
But, you really think she is going to arrange to have them fed and cleaned and cared for all the rest of their lives? That just seems kind of bizarre to me. Why not just kill them outright and have done with it? Leaving them there like she did, they could always escape or someone could free them and two very angry dragons would not bode well for the people.
Have you somehow managed to miss the whole White Walkers plot line, which started in the cold open for the first episode of the first season? You know, the weird magical creatures that lead an army of the undead?
I don’t think anything in the show (before Tyrion tried to send her away) backs that up. Everything we saw indicated that she was truly in love with and devoted to Tyrion. Tywin even threatened Tyrion, more than once, against keeping a whore at King’s Landing.
Wow, that’s a lot of great characters dead. I actually predicted that Tywin would have been the one to save Tyrion through escape or pardon so I believed him, a bit. Varys leaving with Tyrion was a shock. I wonder if we will see much of King’s Landing next season. There is barely anyone left there.
I can not imagine the men at the bloody gate not sending word to the Erie that someone claiming to be Arya Stark was at the door. I guess Littlefinger will investigate and find Brienne and the Pod.
I feel bad for the Freemen and giants. I am going to assume that Stannis had help planning the attack from one of the other Night’s Watch castles since that attack was too coordinated for unknown territory.
