Now Stannis must be even more pissed that Davos let Gendry go. I’m surprised that he didn’t bring that up.
I kind of like this idea, but don’t wargs go all still and have their eyes go milky while they’re warging? She didn’t seem to do anything of the sort before Ghost appeared.
My guess is the Citadel assigns a new maester to a post whenever the old one dies. Sam can’t call himself a maester since he never studied at the Citadel. As well as ravenry Maesters can be physicians, or even midwives like Luwin was to the Starks.
Well, here’s what bothers me about the actress declaring her unwillingness to do any more nude scenes after she did nude scenes and became one of the show’s central characters (and hence couldn’t easily be written out or replaced): it smacks of blackmail, and of not caring about the interests of the show. It’s like “I did the nude scenes to get the job, but now that I got it and would be difficult to replace, fuck you guys, I’m not doing any more.”
And I don’t really care if Emilia Clarke does any more nude scenes, it just seems like a kind of callous attitude and a little bit of a cheat.
By contrast, I’m completely OK with Sarah Jessica Parker famously refusing to do a nude scene for “Striking Distance.” She had a no-nudity clause put in her contract when she signed on to do the movie. If they wanted a nude scene, they should have signed an actress that didn’t have a problem with doing nudity. It’s not like there aren’t a lot of talented actresses who have no problem with doing nudity.
Same with Jessica Alba not being nude as a stripper in “Sin City.” Hiring someone to play a stripper who refuses to do nudity is just dumb. It’s not the actresses’ fault, Alba has always been up front about not doing nudity.
But in the case of Clarke changing her stand on nudity in mid-series, yeah, that was a bit of a cheat, and I blame Clarke.
When Stannis’ army is stuck freezing to death outside of Winterfell, he will have to do his duty. I suspect his daughter will die willingly but he will lose Davos.
Stannis the Mannis would sooner his army freeze to death before he’d let the Red Woman hurt Princess Shireen of House Baratheon.
They have made sure we know that Stannis is a loving father in his own way. I am sure they are setting us up for a big disappointment and I think somehow Brienne will be involved.
Would it be in poor taste to set up a pole to see what people think he is going to decide?
I think Selyse will offer her daughter up to Melisandre to be burned as a sacrifice to the Lord of Lights. To escape her husband’s wrath at killing their daughter, she will join Shireen in the fire. Thus giving the Lord of Light two offerings of royal blood since she is Queen to Stannis’ King. She also will be leaving the way for Melisandre to wed Stannis and give him a living son, which she is unable to do - she believes she will be rewarded in the afterlife for this – she is more fanfic then Melisandre.
Due to these sacrifices the Lord of Lights will do something to help Stannis win Winterfell, however to Stannis is will be a pyrrhic victory.
On the prophecy that all of Cersei’s children will all have a crown of gold – I think Mychal will wed Trystane and wear the crown of Dorne as wife of the crown prince (sorry don’t know the Dorneish title for Trystane as eldest son of the Prince of Dorne)
Seems like a typo, but at the same time highly accurate!
Here are their fields:
Known metals and corresponding fields of study include:[2]
Silver - medicine and healing
Gold - money and accounting
Iron - warcraft
Black iron - ravenry
Lead - poisons
Valyrian steel - “the higher mysteries” (magic). Only one maester in a hundred possesses such a link, as study of the occult is frowned upon by the order.
Steel - construction[3]
Bronze - astronomy[4]
I agree about Clarke, but in the case of Sarah Jessica Parker- I am completely OK with never seeing here in the nude.
Myrcella
That’s what we said!
I’m still surprised Littlefinger left Sansa in Winterfell as Ramsey’s rapetoy. Plans and plotting aside, I always thought he would keep her relatively out of harm’s way.
To me the Stannis stuff about Shireen is one of the massive plotholes in the show…
Ok, so he got the shadow baby… By having sex with Red witch. I assume he can’t do that again. Ok, fine. But didn’t have to die.
Now with Gendry, they leeched him, and got a couple of bits of kings blood. And used that quite effectively to kill Robb and Joffrey. He didn’t die though. So wonder what they could have done with him if he did…
So, why all of a sudden is Shireen up for getting burned at the stake? Surely a bit of leeching, a bit of fire, and all of a sudden its all change in positions of power…
Yep, apart from the bits at the end, this episode seemed like a bit of a spacefiller. Well, any time Olenna was onscreen, was gold. Looking to me its Brienne to the rescue for Sansa, in that Game of Thrones, Bad Bolton Security style (Yara Greyjoy just wanders into the middle of their castle).
Are they actually making Castle Black even darker? I could barely see what was going on in the early stages of the episode…
Nice to see that Bronn didn’t die. Too many dying in this damn show nowadays.
And yes, the slaves and Daenerys seemed another massive plothole. Still, it got Tyrion to meet her. I really thought she was going to dismiss him and they’d not meet and blah blah, take several episodes more to meet…
I take it to mean that Mel has to keep raising the stakes – her ‘tricks’ only work once, and then she has to up the ante with something more substantial. So first it was just some hanky panky, then leeches with ‘king’s blood’, then burning someone with king’s blood, and then, perhaps, burning large groups of people at once.
Huh? Brienne? Why Brienne would end up being involved in that???
For my part, I fear the mom will cause Shireen demise. I don’t think the red woman would accept going against the decision of Stannis, but I could see mom acting all by herself, killing her daughter and bringing the blood to unsuspecting Stannis and Melisandre.
I don’t think he considers marital rape as a big deal. I also thinks he’s perfectly willing to go through temporary unpleasant moments to ensure future triumph, and expect Sansa to now behave in the same way.
