Game of Thrones 7.04 "The Spoils of War" 8/6/2017 [Show discussion only]

I don’t think so, but I could be wrong. I think she was more struck with grief over what Arya (and Bran) must have gone through to get to this point, and how they’ll never be the innocent brother and sister she remembers.

Imagine if you had a close friend come home from war, talking about killing a bunch of people and training to kill people all the time, but you remember him as a goofy high school kid who was into driving cars and chasing girls. It would be upsetting to realize how different he is, how he’s never going to be the same, and feel sympathy for all the shit he must have seen during the war.

That’s the vibe I got from Sansa in that scene. That and the “our work isn’t done yet, we can’t just sit around and reminisce all day” feeling. Like, despite the reunion, family is still secondary to saving the world at this point in time.

One question; was the Dothraki that Bronn speared with the Ballista someone we’ve met before? He looked sort of familiar.

It turns out even in TV drama I am against white folk being killed by dark skinned foreigners. You just know those Dothraki are gonna be pillagey and rapey. Im getting further alt-right with every passing episode.

Provided she makes it out alive. Though even then, she doesn’t seem to be much of the Republic type with the all the insistence on having to ‘bend the knee’ - one would imagine a ruler of a Republic would be more lenient on that.

I don’t think so. Do we even know any of the new Dothraki?

This is a clip from the Season 4 finale where Bran is visiting the Three Eyed Raven in the tree. It can be interpreted a few ways…but he is told he “will never walk, but he will fly”.

Wut?

My favorite lines, which, admittedly, end in my head:

Jon: My people won’t accept a southern ruler. Not after everything they have suffered.

Dany: They will if their king does

Me: You have not met Lyanna Mormont, have you?

Just a bit tired of the goodness of Daenery’s and the noble savage Dothraki. Any other foreign army of the Dothraki ilk would be committing allsorts of unspeakable acts on the population of Westeros. It’s what any self respecting conquering army does. I suspect it is happening right now as I type this. The Dothraki are up to their balls in the good women of Westeros.

Another thing; how many fencing lessons has Podrick by now? Surely he would be somewhat better at fighting than he is.

Why did Sansa look upset after the Arya/Brienne training session?

It takes like a decade of training to be any good with a sword. Anyway, he’s no were near Brienne’s skill level, but he’s probably as good as most scrubs he’s likely to go up against.

Yeah, the vibe I got was more like, “That is not the Arya I knew.” Not in the sense that she is an imposter or anything like that, but that their experiences have made them very different people. And perhaps a touch of thinking, “My little sister is dangerous, and perhaps a psychopath.”

Perhaps we’ll get a scene of him in battle and not embarrassing himself. And where the hell is Gendry? Is he in training for the Westerosi Olympic team in the long-distance rowing event?

Wondering the same thing. I thought maybe realization that her list is probably true?

Can we have a marry, kill, screw list for every episode? ;p

Marry: Brienne. I want her to teach me how to fight and also keep me safe always.

Kill: That Iron Bank douche.

Screw: Sansa. <3

What’s with Theon?? He was captured by Euron. Did he return because Euron released him or are those people on the boat Euron’s (posing as Yara’s) and that’s a trap? He was - kind of - sliding back into Reek-state in the previous episode.

Because she remembers innocent, bratty, tom boy Arya not cold blooded assassin murderer Arya. It takes a bit of getting used to.

If she sticks around long enough I would bet Arya will get taken aback when she sees Sansa run circles around the other Northern Lords in one of their meetings.

ETA: Regarding Theon: he wasn’t captured. His own people fished him out. They treated him like that because they see him as a coward.

He wasn’t captured by Euron, he was fished out of the sea by some random Iron Island captain. Presumably one loyal to Yara (and by extension Dany).

Theon wasn’t captured by Euron. When Euron boarded their ship during the battle and grabbed Yara, Theon reeked out and jumped overboard. He was picked up later by some other ironborn who were on his and Yara’s side of the conflict, and he told them that she had been captured.

The way that scene went in my head, the Dothraki came over the hill in a surprisingly stretched out line. The Lannisters pulled together their formation as the riders approach. Then suddenly, about forty feet from the line, from the Lannister perspective we see the Dothraki wheel around showing off their fancy riding to weave around each other. Then we switch to the other perspective as Drogon rises behind the Lannister lines. Once the dragon has strafed the infantry a couple of times, the Dothraki come around again this time in a much tighter formation and crash through what remains of the lines. Then they begin to mop up and the scene continues as filmed.
