Game of Thrones 8.06 "The Iron Throne" 5/19/2019 Show Discussion

Eh. That was fine. Didn’t ruin anything, didn’t knock it out of the park.

Although I really disliked the Small Council scene. People have been joking about Sam presenting ASOIAF as a stupid and cliche ending, then it happened. The dialogue in that scene was pretty bad too.

Jesus, I think *Lost *had a better ending.

And I thought for sure I wouldn’t have to see that stupid wolf again.

Best part: Sam suggesting that all people get a vote, and everyone laughing at him.

Edited a second time: Why would people knowingly choose going to live in the freezing, snowy land north of the wall? How do they even get food there?

I don’t agree. I liked the ending quite a bit. I particularly liked the first shot of Dany approaching to address her troops, with the dragon right behind her, so the wings appeared to be hers. And I liked the Tolkien-esque ending with the book being presented.

Wasn’t he previously shown to be a man ahead of his time?

50 minutes of me bawling my eyes out. I’m such a sucker.

Yeah, that was about as good as they could have done given their previous choices. I loved the small council scene though, but Tyrion not being mentioned at all in the book makes zero sense.

Yeah, I guess a little TOO ahead.

Two moments almost got me. Arya crying when she said goodbye to Jon, but the bigger one was Brienne filling in Jaime’s entry in the White Book.

Good for you!! Me too!

I liked it . They ended where it started , heading out north of the wall.

I thought Jon killing Dany is something they should have reshot to make it more dramatic and emotional. It just kind of “thunk” and that is all there is.

Dude, there is a dragon out there!

Same way they always did? Besides the plant we saw says winter is over

That was my second favorite part.

I can’t help but think that if the books actually ever get published to give exactly the same ending it will still be better executed.

On the plus side, maybe Bran or Sam will wind up inventing the Westerosi with Disabilities Act.

Yeah…after I heard the spoliers (and eff all you peeps who did that) I was like…“My first instinct is to say WTF”, but its such an odd chioce I think theyll make it work

So how many hours until this is broadcast?

Lol, I was prepared for people to get their throat slit at any moment, even in the “happy” scenes.

Seems like it was written not to upset anyone. Except I’m sure Dany lovers will be furious of course. I have a smile on my face so I guess I liked it.

Don’t hold your breath for those books.

With the White Walkers dead and peace made with the Wildlings, what exactly is the Night’s Watch watching for?

Well, rumors that Bran would be king turned out to be true. I was curious about the Night’s Watch (note, the Lord Commander is elected – not sure if Jon was reelected or not. Glad we saw Tormund and Ghost)
Arya sailing off to the west is cool, if not really what I pictured for her.
And everyone was just “Ok, the North can be independent” without a peep
Can Sam be Grand Maester and Lord Tarly?

But all in all a decent ending IMHO. GRRM said the ending is “bittersweet” and I guess this qualifies.
