and what other show has ever redone a season due to some fans throwing a tantrum?
That was some painfully clunky writing. Dany morphs into Hitler with an appropriate black Nazi outfit. Jon successfully auditions to be the star of Dumb and Dumber. Tyrion has to convince Jon that Dany is not actually good which is blindingly obvious to everyone else. Fortunately after Jon kills Dany, Drogon takes out his anger on the throne because a dragon would certainly understand the symbolism of the throne, right? And it gets worse from there with painful jokes about brothels and a slow boring ending. I was hoping Drogon would burn the script because I was starting to fall asleep at the end. What a disappointment.
The apparition and speech of black clad Danaerys, with the wings of Drogon behind her, the ashes raining and the bloodthirsty Dothrakis screaming is just grand. The evil queen in all her splendor.
Again, it would make money. Nothing else really matters.
Call it a tantrum if you want, but the season still sucked. And nothing else really matters.
I think so, yes. They’ve been said to be smarter than people.
So I think that’s exactly what it was–That damn thing has taken everything from me!
It’s really a great scene. It’s a shame that they didn’t bring us there in a better way.
I doubt it would. It wouldn’t get half the viewers it had this season. You’d get morbid curiosity for the first ten minutes of the first ep. And who TF is gonna play Tyrion?
It would play like the shittiest fan Trek film.
What matters is the actors have moved on to other jobs and so has the crew. They cannot just snap their fingers and start filming again with a new script.
Yeah, if they can’t get the actors, it’d fall through. But if they could, people would watch it.
Bran: Why did you think I came all the way here?
So he may have not wanted it, but he *expected *it, and he was not going to run from it.
Briefly we are shown a green sprout breaking through the snow. So who knows (which could be the motif of the whole episode).
But that’s part of the deal with this story: major players who have done terrible things end up getting mundane deaths. Because a grand death would probably please them.
I suppose it’s possible the Dothraki may have felt that OK, now that the Khaleesi is gone, we are not going to stick around to serve some Westerner – Especially if many of them saw the dragon flying away into the storm and/or the dragon-melted throne and would take it as an omen that this was not worth it. Plus I feel that otherwise they probably would not have long tolerated Grey Worm’s attitude and would at some point have said “we owed loyalty to our Khaleesi not to some vindictive eunuch” then he’d tell them they have to obey and they’d say FTS, make us, and headed home.
As to Jon and Tyrion’s continued existence, Dothraki and Unsullied alike may have said to themselves, if the dragon melted the throne, and spared Jon, and took away the prime piece of evidence, that’s some sort of sign – even Grey Worm would understand that without a Queen/King to give the order, he could not put princes to their deaths. He is still at least influenced by Dany’s peculiar sense of what is “justice”. Once there IS a king, he tries to insist on demanding “justice”, only to have Bran exert alternative sentencing. Then *the Unsullied *say FTS and leave. Notice he refuses to take Jon before the council of princes, wisely perceiving that he can’t take the chance that they’d acclaim Jon on sight.
Did anybody mention anything about finger snapping? Or is that similar to a tantrum?
I liked it. Jon killing Dany was the only believable way to do it. He broke the wheel when she could not.
Do the haters think the broad outlines of the last two seasons didn’t come from GRRM? Jon killing Dany and Bran on the throne were certainly what he intended. Do you think he didn’t have any idea how the books ended before he stopped writing? Or that D&D just ignored his outline?
I think this outcome is largely the way GRRM would have written it. With better dialog, perhaps.
Let’s bet on whether or not they redo the season. I bet $1 billion dollars they don’t , OK?
Sure, you’re on. Who’s going to hold your money?
Nah, I don’t expect them to actually do it, but I’d love it if they did.
Wow! And useless Jon keeps defending her. But an idiot to such an extent isn’t in character.
Maybe they could have a whole tantrum network for redos of Sopranos, Dexter, Lost , Veep, and so on. Now that could be a money maker!!
I doubt that’s what GRRM had in mind. Or, if it was, they fucked up the execution.
They spent way too much time showing that Bran is not really Bran anymore and that he mostly lives in the past without any likes or dislikes to have any interest in being Lord Stark.
But he’s fine with being King Stark.
I mean… the writing has been dumber lately, but it’s not that dumb. Obviously it’s not that Jon doesn’t know whether what she did was bad or not, it’s that he’s torn by being honor bound by his fealty to her and thinking through the consequences of killing her. And he’s emotionally coming to terms with what happened - that he supported and facilitated someone who murdered hundreds of thousands of people. You’re declaring it to be way dumber than it actually is.
Bran literally says at one point “I’m not Lord of Winterfell, I can’t be Lord of anything, anymore” or something along those lines. So without a change of heart or some sort of development it seems inconsistent to put him in that position. He’s basically considered himself above politics and above interacting in the world in a normal way, then suddenly he’s fine with being king. Doesn’t really ring true.
Dudes…dudettes…if I loved someone and they turned around and did something like that…and then sounded semmmmmi-sane after??
Yeah, I’d be conflicted too. If Dany had crafted her talk with Jon better, I think Jon may have not done it. It went from “Im never gonna get her to see that what she did was bad to…ok, imma have to kill her”
