Game of Thrones S3 - open spoilers

Sure. But I tented to mostly give a pass to politically motivated murders, given all the awful crimes depicted (torturing random farmers, flaying people, etc…), it came to sound like small potatoes. It’s all relative.

Bet on it. That’s the title of Episode 9

What worries me is that the show doesn’t seem to have set up the song “Rains of Castamere” solidly enough. So it’s not going to be the same kind of “oh, shit” moment for Catelyn when the song starts up. Of course, there will be an “oh, shit” moment, but the song itself won’t be as important.

I fully agree. This scene had a great potential for the actors.

Also, people have begun to like Ygritte a lot. Will she survive this season?

Nope.

Jeez, so many characters to keep track of!

I believe they are chopping this book into two seasons, so isn’t it possible that Ygritte will make it to next season? It seems like they’d have to cover a lot of ground to get to the red wedding and the battle at the wall in the episodes they have left.

But if the attack on castle black doesn’t happen this season what the hell are jon and the wildlings going to be doing for four more episodes? I think the Wall storyline is going to end with a shot of Manse’s massive army preparing to attack after the battle in castle black.

Didn’t an awful lot of big stuff happen in book #3? If it’s all going to be covered this season, we have a lot to look forward to.

The Red Wedding
Joffrey’s death
Littlefinger makes Lisa Arryn fly
Dany sacks Yunkai
Tyrion kills Tywin and Shae

What else?

Book three is being split into two seasons though.

Judging by episode titles we’ll get the Red Wedding in episode 9 and the sacking of Yunkai in the last one(“Mhysa”).

There are two atta ks on the wall. Ygritte dies during the first one. I’d guess episode 10 this season.

I understand that Joffrey’s death won’t be included (hence Tywin and Shae won’t die, either).

I suspect the sack of Yunkai will happen in episode 8 (siege, betrayals, mercenaries, etc… being covered in episode 7). The Red wedding will be covered in episode 9, so I would guess that episode 10 major element will be Castle Black.

Still wondering about Ygritte. When does she die exactly in the books?

I agree. They’re over the Wall now. Presumably over the next few episodes, Jon & Ygritte will get more lovey-dovey (the better to twist the eventual knife - er, arrow), the party will discover that tower, and they’ll encounter a passerby whom they have to kill to protect their secrecy. Meanwhile, Mance’s line is approaching the Wall. My guess is the last we’ll see of the plot this season is Jon abandoning Ygritte and riding hell-bent for the Wall, while Mance’s huge force creeps up on the unsuspecting remains of the Night’s Watch.

It looks like next week Jaime will have his major change of heart and rescue Brienne (“The Bear and the Maiden Fair”), so they might make it to King’s Landing before season’s end.

“Second Sons” will probably bring Tyrion’s wedding. I guess Joff’s wedding will be next season.

Then of course we’ll get the Red Wedding, and from the title of the last ep (“Mhysa”), I’m guessing they’ll conclude with Dany kicking slaver ass and liberating Yunkai (which will most likely get elided with Mereen for the show).

So next season we’d get Joff’s wedding/death, Tyrion’s trial, Sansa absconding, deaths of Tywin and Shae (or will they change that?), Dany trying to rule, and the fallout from the Red Wedding. Plus Arya and the Hound, Bran continuing north (yawn), and the actual battle at the Wall.

Not four posts above you it was said that book 3 is split into two seasons.

We’ll get The Red Wedding, and probably the first, smaller, attack on Castle Black when Ygritte dies*, and the Yunkai sack, but that’s it.
*Which reminds me, how do the rest of the Wildings get to Castle Black? In the show, they made it look like only Jon, Ygritte, Tormund, and Wargy-Joe (forget his name,) made it over the wall…weren’t there a lot more of them in the book?

I mean…kind of hard to attack a castle with four people (which will be three once Jon leaves.)

They were the first ones up, i believe there were more groups. Not that any of that was shown on the show.

Tormund is pulling up more people in the last scene. In the book they throw down ladders for the rest to climb up (Jon didn’t climb in the book). That’s also a possibility.

I agree with your predictions for the rest of this season.

Since the red wedding will take place, we’ll see Arya and the Hound this season.
And Bran’s travel might be covered in “Second sons” (Since it’s plural, I’m assuming that the first “second son” is Tyrion, and the second one Bran. The only other possible second son would be Tommen, but I doubt they’ll kill Joffrey prematurely)

The second sons are also a mecenary group that are run by, I believe, Brown Ben Plumm. They pledge to fight for Dany before Yunkai I believe.

Daario next episode? I expect a lot of fan rage at his entrance.
