Game of Thrones S3 - open spoilers

They don’t have to do anything for four episodes. Remember, some characters are completely ignored in certain episodes (though mostly just Daenerys so far?). They could just not do anything with Jon’s storyline for an episode or two if they need a way to slow it down, or they could have short scenes.

That might have worked if they stretched the scenes before climbing the wall and ended their storyline with the last shot of this last episode, but they had to have the attack or there really won’t be any point to any of their story so far. BTW I am worried about how popular Igrytte is, i fear Jon is never going to get out of heel territory after bailing on her and she ends up dead.

So you don’t think she’s going to straight up murder an innocent dude next episode?

I hated Daario in the book and really could not understand why Dany would find him attractive. He just seems so transparent.

Hey, do you think they’ll have the scene where one of Dany’s slaves … er, pleasures her in bed? I can’t imagine HBO skipping over that juicy tidbit.

The correct terminology is “bottom bitch.”

She’s a teenager and she gives him what she wants, a young, hot, no-strings-attached sextoy.

They didn’t do that already?

No they didn’t and Irri died anyways. Maybe they’ll do it with Missandei.

Well, imo Martin does a poor job of describing him as hot. He just comes across as ridiculous. Maybe it’s just me.

I think Dany likes Daario in part because he is so useless. Her whole life other people were trying to get her to marry someone who was useful to her politically. After a life time of having almost no power, she’s suddenly one of the most powerful people in the world. So she indulges herself by having a relationship with a guy who is cute and wonderfully mustachioed but ultimately not only useless, but actually detrimental to her politically. But the relationship sort of symbolizes her power and freedom to her subconscious.

And boy is Daario ever useless. Does he ever even kill anybody who isn’t a member of his own company?

If you believe in a kind and loving God, Emilia Clarke will have a prolonged love scene with Nathalie Emmanuel (Missandei).

Well, there’s probably a reason why they decided to change the character from a child into an attractive young woman.

Hell of a time to be an atheist…
:stuck_out_tongue:

Is it just me, or are Dany’s servant women just ridiculously smoking? Irri was pretty hot, but Doreah (RIP) and Missandei are breathtaking. The latter two easily outshine everyone else in the cast in sheer beauty, Dany included. Honestly, it’s almost distracting.

It’s not just you.

My very own Qarth pronunciation correction moment.

It’s nothing against Brienne, her chapters just could have been condensed and gotten across most of the same information and character development.

In my opinion Brienne’s journey was the best part of A Feast for Crows. And I’m one of the few who actually liked the book…

This brings up an interesting point. The books are incomplete which means that nobody (hell, that might even include Martin) knows what’s going to happen to each of their characters as the storyline progresses. So the producers have little choice but to include EVERY subplot and viewpoint character because if they eliminate one and that one turns out to have played a key role in something, you can’t just go “shit. Let’s add them back in now, and hope no one notices.”

The play Hamlet is almost 4 hours long. Fortinbras usually gets left on the cutting room floor because he’s a character that doesn’t impact the overall story that’s being told. What if they were making a movie of Hamlet at the same time Shakespeare was writing the play. They get to almost the end of filming and Shakespeare runs up and says “I’ve got the perfect ending! Fortinbras rams his sword straight through Claudius and then laughs at Hamlet for being a weakling, marries Gertrude and expands his empire.” Yeah, time to reshoot some scenes.

Martin knows how it’s all going and he has told the show runners how it’s all going to end. Neither of them might not know every little detail, but I can assure you they know what happens with every important storyline, especially the likes of Bran’s which has been slowly building up since the first book and is painted as being very important (magic, elves, Summer).

I started re-reading the first book the other day and man, I’d forgotten what a bitch Cate was to Jon before he left Winterfell. I know she was wrecked after Bran’s accident, but she was stone-cold wicked toward him. Makes me realize that undead Cate really isn’t much different than she was before.

The show has been rather good at making book characters more appealing.

No, I had the same reaction. He’s a painted, overly-mannered fop in the books.

Martin was pretty emphatic in an interview I read that the Children of the Forest aren’t Elves, although they share of some Elven characteristics.
