Game Of Thrones S4 [MAJOR BOOK SPOILERS!]

It’s gotta be, I’d think.

If they do go that route, then Bran would seemingly do a whole lot of nothing for a few seasons - unless it becomes a “learning” plot following it. You never know, I guess

Well…

She is wearing the chain of office of the Hand of the King and seems fairly content in her situation when Tyrion comes upon her

Don’t read the spoiler if you don’t want to know the answer.

They cast actors to play the Three-Eyed Crow and the Child of the Forest. Here is a list of all the new castings.

I can’t wait for the Purple Wedding. You know, I wonder how the non-book reading viewers are going to react this time when the scene starts? I mean, it’s game of Thrones and it’s a wedding…they’ll know something has to be up. Heck, when I read it, I felt an ominous tone throughout the scene, even though I didn’t know what was going to happen. It was because Martin put so much lavish detail into describing the setup of the wedding, when he is so terse with words elsewhere in the books.

My thoughts:

Because of things like Ned’s Death, the Red Wedding, Renly’s Death, etc…, TV viewers (and, for a time, book readers,) were used to the “good guys” dying. So I’m guessing that, if they think anything bad will happen, it will likely be to Tyrion and/or Margaery (even though something bad DOES happen to Tyrion, it’s not really in the way they’d expect.)
It seems most show watchers fully expect Joffrey to keep being an petulant little shit and cause more trouble, until he’s killed by Arya, or roasted by Dany’s dragons, or something.

I think his character will be singing in the musical spectacular.

My guesses (I didn’t read everything above). I’m in the 3rd book but pretty spoiled on the later ones besides details:

1 - I don’t know, besides Ice. In the trailers, did I Bronn training Jaime instead of wotsisface?
2 - Tyrell something. I saw some speculation or leak here for PW, so maybe.
3 - Daenerys
5 - Either dead Joffrey (First of His Name) or coronation of Tommen (First of His Name) if the former happened.
6 - Trial?
7 - Katniss is important. Wait. No, but that’s what I thought when I read the title. Littlefinger.
8 - Obvious. I hope they find a reason to make viewers remember who the Mountain is (and hate him?)
9 - Obvious who, but not which part to me.
10 - I don’t really know about this part, but Children of the Forest w/ Bran?

3rd book spoilers

I think he was perfectly justified. It’s one thing to lie to save your skin. Maybe he could have forgiven her for turning against him since she did it to avoid being hanged or some other grisly fate. But she deliberately mocked him in front of everyone, all the while pretending to be an innocent little maid wholly unaware of what she was doing. She didn’t have to take it that far. It just proved what a shallow and unfeeling so-and-so she was.

As for Joff’s wedding,

I was surprised by his death even after getting through the Red Wedding; although for book readers it was more of an immediate experience - the tv audience has had more time to process everything so maybe it won’t be as much of a surprise for them. Tywin’s death also really surprised me. I didn’t think Tyrion would go so far.

Well…

I expected it as soon as Jaime told Tyrion the truth about whatshername. The whole “whore” situation was a defining backstory moment for Tyrion. To find out that it was all a lie almost demanded his killing Tywin.

Why don’t we have two threads, like the other years, one with unboxed spoilers, and one with references to the books forbidden? It worked well.
Anyway, regarding characters likely to be killed this season :

I count seven, not three

Because this is just a thread with a specific question, not a general thread about the show.

That is correct. I know what’s coming; but I wanted to know if it was coming this season. I believe my question has been answered.

The titles of episodes used to be very deceptive during the previous seasons, but it seems to me that this time, they’re very straightforward.

Regarding your spoiler box:

[ul]
[li]Joffrey[/li][li]Oberyn[/li][li]Ygritte[/li][li]Shae[/li][li]Tywin[/li][li]Lysa[/li]
And who? Sandor is likely alive in the books. I wouldn’t say the Mountain is dead. Poliver wouldn’t count. Ditto Dontos. Oh, Balon?
[/ul]

The hound and Balon Greyjoy. I didn’t expect Lysa to die during this season.

But…

the Hound is probably not dead in the books.

“Probably” is a strong word, IMO. There’s only a theory according to which this character might not be dead based on a wild interpretation of a small scene. In any case, he doesn’t play any part in the story anymore so far, so he might as well be dead.

But he may yet. That small scene seems significant to me.

It’s not at all a wild interpretation. His horse is specifically there. I’d put it at 80% likely. Not R+L=J, but not at all crackpot.

He still has a big part to play that was prophesied way back in book one,“definitely” is a lot closer to accurate than “probably”.
