Game of Thrones Season 2 - OPEN SPOILERS Discussion Thread

Maybe we should call everyone Bruce just to keep everything straight.

I seem to recall that in the season one DVD commentaries someone refers to this having been done for exactly this reason.

Also from the commentaries it is definitely stated that they renamed the Others as the White Walkers because calling them “the Others” would just sound like “the others” when spoken and possibly cause confusion for those that have not read the books. Hard to pronounce capital letters distinctly (unless you are Terry Pratchett’s Death :stuck_out_tongue: )

It’s not even the same number of syllables. Besides nobody is going to confuse the characters of Yara and Arya, while Yara and Osha are both basically female warriors.

Well in that case we should go with David.

This thread has been unstuck, now that people are hopefully used to the system.

But definitely not Brian, because I’m Brian, and so is my wife.

And both have connections to Theon. So imagine the scenes with Theon back at Winterfell, talking about Osha this, and Asha that. Several casual viewers, not readers, might be like “wait, which one did he say? I didn’t hear.”

Anybody else very excited to see Brienne tonight?

I’m excited to see all the jokes that get made when the non-spoiler thread find out about Renly’s “Rainbow Guard.” :stuck_out_tongue:

I wouldn’t be surprised if they cut that. It sort of worked in the books because of all the pageantry involved with tournies and knights is spelled out in great detail. I think in the show it’d just get gigantic eye-rolls.

Margaery Tyrell is the first plot change I disagree with. I’m not sure how the whole plot about her virginity will play out with this change in her age and personality.

I don’t think they’ve changed anything yet. In the books she never consummated her marriage with Renly, or Joffrey for that matter. In this episode she stated she would do whatever it takes to get her pregnant with Renlys child, but she is still a virgin. I suspect that Renly will be killed before they manage anything.

What’s the big change? Whatever it is, I’ll take it to see Natalie Dormer naked!

The Lannisters must be pretty stupid to think Lommy was a blackhaired blacksmith’s apprentice.

I’m not sure how I feel about this episode. It moved slowly, but I think it was all pretty good. I am starting to hate Shae though.

Most forward virgin I’ve ever seen. There was some question in the books on whether or not she was actually a virgin, but that might have just been Cersei being jealous and a bitch.

I’m pretty sure you’re right about Renly biting it soon.

True, it could go either way but I don’t remember anything from the books that would have made it clear that she wasn’t a virgin. Hard to know what she might have been like too because there were never any chapters written from her POV.

They cut a lot of chaff in this episode it seemed like, understandably given how much source material this is.

Edit: Also, when I first saw Natalie Dormer I wasn’t very impressed but I’ve changed my mind on that one.

The point that she was still a virgin was specifically brought up when she was betrothed to Joffrey.

Yeah, the previews showed Ser Davos with Melisandre underneath Storm’s End in the next episode, and Renly meeting with Stannis, so I figure either next episode or the one after it.

I can’t remember–was Lommy killed with Needle in the book?

Nah, spear.

The dude that took Needle wasn’t the tickler, was he? He looked too memorable.

Geez they might as well just broadcast the Wall portion of the episode with a black screen and the actors reading their lines ala a radio drama. They could have saved some serious bills for something we could* see. *
