Lady stoneheart is not going to show up with Brienne and Pod, that has to happen next season. She will hang a Frey like in the book.
Balon’s still alive. I wouldn’t be shocked (other than for time constraints) if he’s gone this week too.
That would be pretty cool.
We’ve already seen footage of him approaching a door with a crossbow.
And we’ve seen footage of Brienne and Podrick catching up with Arya and the Hound, as well as heard Brienne’s actress mention that this season she gets to bite a man’s ear off and spit it at his face (which hasn’t happened yet)
OMG, I just realized that, assuming we do get Tywin’s death this week, which I agree, is 99.5% likely, it will be ON FATHER’S DAY! Perfection! Happy Father’s day, dad, I got you this crossbow bolt!
Prediction:
The show tonight ends with a closeup of Arya. It pulls away and we see her leaning over the railing of a ship bound for Bravos. As we see the ship sailing off into the sunset, the scene fades to black over a crescendo of music.
Music stops as we come back to the middle of Westeros. A fire burns and we see a random Frey tied to a stake. Beric Dondarrion says he stands accused of the murders of the Red Wedding. He denies it. Says there are no witnesses and requests to be let go. Beric says it’s true, that none of the Brothers without Banners have witnessed him do anything wrong.
“But she has,” he says and we see a hooded figure come forward, lower her hood. Lady Stoneheart points and you see the reflection in her eyes the tribe bringing the fire closer to the Frey, him screaming, and we fade to black for real.
So, you were half right. Alas.
No Lady Stoneheart. And a lot of diversions from the book. But the important stuff stayed.
Awesome episode, except I was hoping for Stoneheart. Oh well – gotta save some awesomeness for later seasons.
Did Varys leave with Tyrion? that would be kind of a bummer, the spider ending up living like a real spider was a nice touch i really liked from the books.
Jaime didn’t give his explanation of Tysha, nor did we get the “wherever whores go” line. I guess that’s reaching too far back to season 1? I’m still digesting.
So what’s going to happen next season? I guess they’re casting for Dorne, but there’s a plot to start a war that could really take like 30 minutes of screen time, and Brienne wandering around. Add in Theon, a little Iron Islands, and Jon getting murdered and we’ll be all the way through book 5 at the end of next season.
On the bright side, we’ll probably see a lot more of the great Conleth Hill in the next season or two.
Tyrion/Varys scenes, even if they’re just hanging out on a boat, should make for some excellent TV.
Goddamn. I was getting so excited. I even thought “ok, I’ll stick through the credits. It’s coming up.”
Alas.
Lady Stoneheart would have been an awesome WTF ending for all the non-book readers.
Eurgh. They skipped the bit about Tysha. That was important, in the book: it underscores how evil Tywin is, it finally breaks the tie between Tyrion and Jaime, and a Tyrion spends a good part of Book 5 traumatized by the memory. I’m disappointed.
What about no Mance-baby, Dalla and Val?! I was shocked they are cutting all that? Val and the baby drive quite a bit of the story at the wall from here on out.
This was a big change, but actually, I see it is a positive. Now we don’t have to watch Tyrion be drunk and depressed for 5 episodes.
Very good episode, but I was crushed that there was no Stoneheart. Going into the episode I was hoping for a 10-second teaser shot of her at the very end or something. As it went on it became increasingly clear that wasn’t going to happen. Still, very entertaining, good wrap up for the season.
Hot damn!
Really disappointed there was no Lady Stoneheart. Lena Headey is a genius troll, though.
I’m also disappointed that they cut out the Tysha stuff (it especially changes the dynamic of Tyrion and Jaime’s parting 180 degrees), but at least it’ll save us from hearing Tyrion say “where do whores go?” every five minutes.
I’m fine with Varys taking the boat with Tyrion, since he basically just disappears in Books 4 and 5 and doesn’t show up until he assassinates Kevan Lannister at the end of Book 5.
And wow… they killed Jojen! Didn’t see that coming. In the books it doesn’t sound like he has much longer, though.
Do they really? I mean, Stannis can offer to make Snow the new Lord of Winterfell without a wildling queen to marry. Jon will still get elected Commander and Stannis will go after Ramsay. I figure Tormund will be the replacement for Rattleshirt.
Also, I really enjoyed the Brienne/Sandor showdown… a nice bonus scene not the book! Funny how Brienne finally got to bite an ear (not Sandor’s in the book) and Sandor got his ear bitten (not by Brienne in the book). Even if it did make him getting wounded in the last few episodes a bit of a pointless storyline…
(Also, it’ll be good fodder for future “who’s the best fighter” threads)
They might have cut out Lady Stoneheart completely. THey have gotten rid of Coldhands and Strong Belwas.
