Yes, but I find this explanation disapointing and not very credible given what we had seen of Shae before.

I’m kind of hoping that we find out Shae was spying for Tywin the whole time and playing both Sansa and Tyrion. If the betrayal isn’t something that huge, then Tyrion killing her will be too out of character with the way he has been portrayed on the show.

I’m still hoping they’ll deviate from the books and come up with a more satisfying way for Geoffrey to die. Or maybe kill him off as written, and then ressurect him so they can kill him again…and again. Maybe end each episode with a new and more painful way for that little shit to die…

I suspect we could see her as an introduction scene, in the same she appears in the book, during the hanging of the Frey guys.

Count me amongst the people who found the last book boring. Characters just roam around doing nothing of any signifiance for the story. Tyrion get captured/escape/get captured/escape/get captured… and nothing of what he does matters. Oh! and he demonstrates his talent at playing chess. There’s the Dornish guy we follow chapter after chapter for a while until he reaches his destination just in time to be roasted by a dragon. So, several chapters of complete irrelevance. Daenerys sits in her throne room trying to hold on her city, which is again of no importance for the story as a whole. Bran spend forever finding his raven and then looks around caves. The supposed Targaryen roams around doing nothing like everybody else. Brienne goes on a wild goose chase for several chapters. A dornish girl spend her time imprisoned in a tower. The Bolton bastard abuse women. The fat lord marches north. Stannis reflects on his next moves. And I could go on.

There are some element that advance a bit (Cersei storyline, Littlefinger storyline, for instance) and certainly many others are interesting in themselves. But still, I expect a story to progress. I’d rather have Martin finish this damn thing and write sequels, prequels, parrallel stories, etc… if he wants to add material.

It’s quite striking when you consider how many questions are yet unanswered and how long away we seem to be from a resolution. If I didn’t know better, I would assume that he intends to publish a dozen more books before the end. I truly wonder if he won’t end up at the contrary completely rushing things in his last books.

Fortunately, the show will have to cut through a lot of this crap.

I was just ruminating on how the story about Daenerys has been pretty much a complete bust.

It began as a beautiful girl and her brother dreaming of regaining the throne they once had but then devolved into a bunch of stupid shit and never seemed to be very interesting again.

I wish they would have just left her out of the TV version completely. What a waste.

The problem with Dunk in the White book is that they listed Arthur Dayne before him!

I loved this episode and I’m counting down to next week, which is going to be epic. I think part of what makes watching the show so fun is watching reactions from the Unsullied afterwards. They now expect big things to happen in episode 9, but I don’t think any of them are ready for the drama that should be episode 2.

I ended up on a long wiki walk today trying to figure out why Doran Martell didn’t join up in the war at any point. I know why he waited, but there were points where he could have jumped in and I was trying to remember if there was anything explicit in why he waited. (The answer, for those who forgot like me, is basically he wants to extract his vengeance his way and that’s not his long-term plan.) Anyway, on my wiki walk I came across an interesting theory. What if HE was in control somehow of Shae? That she was in his employ or debt somehow. She was so evasive about personal questions and he claimed later to be responsible for Tywin’s death. If Shae acted as Doran’s agent somehow, it would add another layer to things later this season. A lot of people seem to wonder how show!Shae will do what book!Shae does because it seems nonsensical to her character there, but if Doran is her ultimate boss, it gives her motivation that she’s missing on the show now. Granted, even if it’s true, we wouldn’t see that in-show for several seasons, but like Doran, GRRM slow plays some things.

Meh, it means thousand paces so it’s likely many peoples had such a word. Besides are not their words translated to English? I think it’s silly to translate every thing they are saying… except a couple odd words.

Pence likely meant “pledge” or something similar so it’d be a common concept.

Personally, I would love to see him get what he deserves in a very violent way. I have a feeling that if it was very violent, it would be a scene that I would love to watch over and over again.

I don’t find the actor attractive- way too skinny-but both actor and character are so arrogant and Joff so evil that I think dying naked and afraid would add an extra touch of humiliation and infantike powerlessness to somebody who has abused his robes and power.

Check me on this: The Thenns were never referred to as cannibals in the books, were they? Scary and mean, sure, but not cannibals. There are cannibals on the isle of Skagos, and we think that Rickon may have ended up there, so maybe they intend to combine these for the show?

I had never heard of any arrogant or other bad behavior from the actor.
