There are a few major potential spoilers that have been stated in the books that are still up in the air this season though - Jon gets stabbed (though it appears people have an inkling this will happen due to Olly being not very subtle) and Dany hopping a ride with Drogon after the fighting pits go very bad.
Lady Stoneheart is probably the only thing I really, really miss from the books. Didn’t last season go into the Brotherhood Without Banners story for a bit? In relation to the Arya and Hound Show. I’m trying to remember if it was explained that they and Melisandre follow the same god.
I’m still holding out hope for Stoneheart. There are two more episodes to go and they’re gonna need something big to top Hardhome.
It appears she may do something important though beyond the current books… Martin when talking about her, said:
Last we heard, Brienne was getting Jaime - I wonder if in the books the end of Jaime Lannister is by Lady Stoneheart, while in the show it’ll be a different way (as he goes a different direction - to Dorne rather than to the Riverlands).
The synopsis for the last episode on the show site and the GOT Wiki both confirm that the guy with the horns is the Night’s King.
I basically took the armor to be what the Night’s Watch wear under the furry cloaks since a badass super human ice zombie maker wouldn’t really need the warmth.
I still think this season sucks. This episode had a lot of weirdass shit that bugs me a lot.
However, I was just in awe of the last half. It was truly amazing and one of the best things this show has ever done, and that’s a pretty high bar from back when it was consistently good. Yeah, there were some logical problems and issues, but it was done so well it drowned out the voices in my head going “Well, that’s not right.”
It was nice to have it confirmed that it’s not book changes that I have a problem with because that whole thing was entirely non-book, but BAD (imo) changes that makes me apoplectic.
Is Ramsay going to attack Stannis? It doesn’t make a lot of sense tactically. What would make sense is if he saw the writing on the wall now that Roose has another son on the way, and he’s going to leave and take over the Dreadfort and hopes Stannis kills his father.
:: rimshot ::
I doubt that. His evil dad’s tactical argument for staying behind Winterfell’s walls is sound. If he ventures out with 20 horsemen and doesn’t return, he’s exposed both militarily and dynastically.
He wouldn’t be exposed militarily if he was in the Dreadfort. He’d be less exposed dynastically if he’s dead than if he’s holed up in a different castle that’s not about to be under siege.
I dunno, I’m trying to make sense of his plan to attack like 15,000 people with 20.
Seriously, who does he think he is? Melissandre?
Of course, Ramsey could be thinking of a similar (though non magical) plan. His 20 wouldn’t find 15,000, but would sneak in the camp to kill Stannis.
Ramsey is too bent to merely “kill” Stannis.
According to Bolton intel, Stannis has 6000 men left after hypothermia and desertions.
Will Areo Hotah do anything in this season? In the book he was a quiet presence, using violence when necessary. But even so, in the show all he had done is glower and threaten.
Mel said she saw herself walking the ramparts of Winterfell…maybe Ramsey kidnaps her.
Yes. Their priest even met Melisandre (she bought Gendry from them). And he explained how he went from being an unbeliever to find faith. Melisandre seemed very surprised that he could resurect the dead.
Btw, anyone else think that Tyrion was being a bit dumb during her conversation with Dany when talking about how it’s not enough that she has support of the people? He goes through all these houses who won’t support her but completely fails to mention or seemingly think about Dorne. Those are the rulers who’ll obviously support her.
I think it was left out for a clunky reason - because it seems next episode Doran is going to tell Jamie that he’s been plotting against Robert Baratheon and his heirs since Elia died and mentioned Dorne as an upper class supporter of Dany would ruin the surprise.
Dorne is not a major player as far as Tyrion knows on the TV series. Last he knows, their major major power play got his head squashed like a grape.
They are major enough that Tyrion shipped Myrcella to them in hopes of preventing them from siding with someone else.
I love how something book readers have been waiting to happen for like twenty years (Danny and Tyrion finally getting together) was completely overshadowed by an event that was a minor footnote in the books.
To be fair, Hardhome may not be a minor footnote - Tormund has been sent by Jon to go up there (before Jon got himself stabbed), so it actually may be quite a massive battle, a la the show in Winds of Winter.
Yeah, that was before the major head squashing.
We already know there was a battle, Jon got a letter basically saying “zombies everywhere, we are getting the fuck out”.
