Game of Thrones Season 6 open show/book discussion thread [spoilers]

Everyone is ritually dunked at birth or have water poured over their heads, but the actual drowning and resuscitation? Thats just for the priests I thought.

I have a feeling that in this alternate reality Lady Stoneheart might ultimately deal the coup de grace to Ramsay.

Speaking of, is she more akin to a wight or white walker or a different kind of revenant altogether?

I think she’s a different thing.

I’d have to reread it, but I don’t think she’s undead? She was brought back the same way Beric was. I think she just looks bad because it was a lot longer before she was revived.

Isaac Hempstead Wright, the guy who plays Bran, tweeted this this morning: Nice one, Bran.

Even Bran hates Bran today. Well, not hates. It isn’t the same as Stannis burning his daughter, but still. . …

She’s same as Jon Snow except instead of having sexy scars she had substantial damage, and especially more time to “ripen” whereas Jon appears to have been dead (in show) for perhaps less than 48 hours, and at subzero temperatures.

As I recall from the books, Lady Stoneheart is also substantially changed mentally, but maybe that’s just due to her brain being partly putrified before she was resurrected or something.

I do find it strange that we’re treating Jon as if he’s just a regular guy again - someone who could be king, perhaps marry Sansa, etc. But… The dude’s been dead and resurrected with magic, and will carry unhealed knife wounds all over his body. We also know the resurrection process tends to diminish some part of you. I don’t think there’s any going back to complete normalcy after that. I expect a violent end for Jon Snow once his role in this play is finished. No happy endings for him.

Beric probably stayed dead for only a few hours each time, and felt very diminished, as you say.

Presumably it’s like the cowboy movie “I heard you died” trope: people will hear that the Lord Commander died and was resurrected, but can dismiss it as a rumor, or maybe he was just injured badly and cured, as the Wall is at the ass-end of the world and the only witnesses aren’t exactly posting credible info on RavenNet forums.

I’m not sure how the healing process should work, but they aren’t like the ice zombies. They breathe air, so presumably things will heal somewhat, but Catelyn’s throat wound is too substantial to fix.

I think a lot of Lady Stoneheart’s brain snapped before she died. She was always a vengeful woman but the Red Wedding broke her brain.

Yes Catelyn went crazy before she died, she was also thrown into a river and i think spent three days there before getting brought back. Dondarrion was on his like seventh death, I’m sure that took its toll each time but he was probably mostly ok after the first time.

I think I’m being whooshed. Hodor’s book birth name is Walder, I always took the hodoring as an attempt at his name.

Wasn’t there a passage that strongly suggests that Euron had abused him as a kid as well?

The show has totally skipped over how insane Euron is. I was telling that to my husband as we watched. If I were a TV viewer I’d be all “Who the hell is this guy? Where’d he come from? Why does anyone care what he has to say?”

Or, for that matter, why shouldn’t Euron be king? If they’ve never had a queen, and Theon doesn’t want it, Euron seems like a logical choice. (Patricide/regicide nowithstanding).

Something about being in fear of a creaking door; pretty subtle so not everyone might interpret it the same.

I thought it was a very Trumpian scene. Support me because I will build lots of ships and I’m a dude. Why no, I don’t actually have many ships, but I’ll build them after you elect me, I swear!

I miss Victarion. He’s a dickhead, and one of the few characters with overt racist attitudes, but you can’t help but like him.

Ian McShane has yet to appear and he specifically said (and was called a dick for so doing) that he’s involved with raising a character from the dead. I wonder if he’s going to take over the role of the red priest or if he’ll be a new character.

I was schooled earlier that he likely plays Meribald and brings Sandor back, who was never literally dead just wounded.

I think people were more concerned with him suggesting it was all tits ‘n’ dragons.

I’m telling you, Brienne and Pod are going over to the Saltpans. He’s gonna be that wandering monk who will “raise” The Hound from the dead, so to speak. At least, that’s what I’m hoping.

He even used his dick size as part of his election speech. Make Iron Islands Great Again.

ISTR in the books that the Damphair calls Euron godless, then Euron goes into great depth about how he’s the godliest man alive. Burning temples and statues of other gods, raping priestesses, murdering priest, etc…

I can’t recall exactly which book now though.
