Game of Thrones, The Wolf and the Lion, 5/15/11

Actually, they DO show the tree. Ned Stark is sitting under it cleaning his sword after he beheads the deserter from the Night’s Watch, before the King arrives. That’s why you see it in the opening credits.

In case anyone is interested, I started a thread in ATMB about rules about the use of spoiler boxes and whether the OP should be about to set them for a giveen thread.

I do apologize for the for the tone of that post, and it’s because I too am irked that the thread is going off track – which is why I went and started the ATMB thread.

If email notification doesn’t show spoiler boxes, isn’t the obvious solution to stop email notification in a thread you don’t want spoiled, rather than forbid spoiler boxes and take a Sarah-Palin-level-stupid stance on what constitutes a spoiler? Not to single you out, Boyo Jim, but for Buddha’s sake, at what point do the spoilerbabies take some responsibility for avoiding spoilers?

How about the idea of showing some courtesy to the OP and abiding by the rules set?

And not all of us spend every minute on the boards, and unsubscribing to a thread makes it too easy to lose track of it. I do not want to be hopping back and forth between threads, hoping to remember the ones I’m interested in, looking to see whether someone has added something.

I’m done discussing this here, and I apologize to the OP for being part of a derailment. I suggest, quixotic78, that if you have further arguments to make you do so in the ATMB thread,

When this thread was started the “other information that’s not in the HBO series, but isn’t strickly spoilers” thread hadn’t started yet. Tomorrow, two episodes are available. I’ll see how they go, then try to evaluate based on that. I think that with three threads for any given episode everyone should have something for them, but I guess we’ll see.

Moderation.

On a moderation note, I have talked with Twickster and the other Café Society mods. Since I’ve both read the books and am following the show, reported posts from these threads will be forwarded to me for arbitration. I intend to follow whatever policy the OP sets for the thread of the week, meaning it will probably get progressively better as soon as they are agreed upon. You can of course PM me directly if there is anything you want resolved or looked at and I am willing to either spoiler-box or remove the spoiling content.

Mistakes happen, of course, and I will try to be tolerant of that while fixing the errors, but please remember that while the OP’s rules are not the equivalent of the board Rules, breaking them deliberately may constitute threadshitting or eventually failure to follow moderator instructions. If anyone has a problem with the rules, I suggest either using the current ATMB thread or PMing the OP to discuss them.

Thanks, Gukumatz.

I’m glad to see that the system seems to be working so far in the new threads so I didn’t want to clutter that one up with this. Is like to thank our volunteer special moderator for taking on this task.

I’ll also note that one of ghe points of contention in this thread – the slanting floor of the sky cell – was indeed revealed in the next episode. That’s the kind of thing that spoiler honed like me would prefer to learn in the hands of the producer and we were right to leave it in their hands.
