Seeing as there’s a lot of interest on the Steam game sales, I thought I’d let you all know that Amazon just announced a big sale on a lot of their downloadable games. Here’s a link.
There’s a few of interest:
LA Noir $4.99
Kingdoms of Amalur $39.99
Crusador Kings II (which just got a good review in the NY Times) $17.99
Dragon Age Pack $9.99
I’m sure there’s more. Those are just the ones that stuck out at me.
Here’s PC Gamer’s list of “18 Essential mods”. I haven’t tried any of them aside from “Skip the Fade”. I’d say players should do the Fade once but there’s no reason to ever have to experience it a second time.
Anyone have any 'put on Crysis 2? I was all ready to download it around Christmas time (even printed out the manual on the work color computer), but the sale ended before i got to it. I really like Crysis 1, if that matters.
How about ‘Achtung Panzer Kharkov 1943’? Never even heard of it til right now.
Assuming I’m not being whooshed, Steam is a service that allows you to download games to your computer so there’s no need to go to a store and buy anything physically.
“Steam game” = Game that activates on Steam. Meaning that you have it in your Steam download library.
Steam is an online game retailer that also acts as a type of DRM. It’s owned by the same company that owns Valve (creator of Portal, Left 4 Dead and other titles).
Some people are against the idea of it. A lot of people like Steam a lot. I’m fairly neutral on it; I have nothing against Steam but wouldn’t refuse to buy a game because it doesn’t activate there.
Edit: The phrase in the OP, “steam game sales” refers to Steam’s annual large multi-day sales around the beginning of July and again around Christmas.
