Game: spot the obscure movie/book/etc.. references in doper's nicks

Siddhartha Vicious – a play on the name of Sex Pistols frontman Sid Vicious, combined with the name of the title character of Herman Hesse’s Siddharta.

Isn’t Siddhartha a reference to the Buddha?

Here ya go.

Two or three dopers have recognized the reference in my 5-ish years here. Most don’t, partially because of the obscurity, and partially because I act like an idiot/asshole most of the time anyway so the name seems to fit without the song reference.

True, but Eve’s name wasn’t always “Eve.” She selected the name specifically. I’m always curious about such things but it’s really none of my business.

No one’s gotten mine yet.

Maybe if I try reading it backwards…

That too.

Lord Ashtar – character on video game “Ninja Gaiden”.

Kel Varsnen - Latex Division – a reference to an alter-ego once used by Jerry Seinfeld on Seinfeld.

Is it numeric?

And, of course, Art Vandelay, Architect is George Costanza’s alter ego.

You aren’t named after the bus driver form the Simpsons? Well phooey…

I know yours, Terminus Est!

Most people don’t know what my name means, but a google search would probably bring it up.

Roland Orzabal – half of music duo Tears for Fears.

Mine is based on a character from the book that never made it to the movie. And since the movie is basically cult and is much more famous than the book, I’d say that counts as obscure.

Dignan is the name of Owen Wilson’s character in Bottle Rocket.

Mine’s pretty obscure, but oblong figured it out:

While I was, indeed, a girl scout, that’s not what I’m referring to…

I saw a guest today named Beware of Doug. Nice!
(If I get it, everyone else probably does too, but if you don’t, it’s a Far Side.)

My name is a slight play on the Sparklehorse song Devil’s New from the album It’s a Wonderful Life.

Satisfying Andy Licious. I love a username that makes me hum Sammy Davis Jr songs whenever I see a post.

ElvisL1ves – is possibly from a video game, but the specifics are escaping me. I may or may not remember a villain in the game exclaiming “Elvis Lives” when the player died.

El Vez is the name of a semi-famous Latin Elvis impersonator.
