I can’t play but I own the board game version. If you want to really replicate the RL feel of the game, each round the players should be half a glass of wine drunker than the previous round. Good luck!

Question: once a mission succeeds, what prevents a team leader from nominating the same lineup of players to run another mission?
Nothing, but the number of players on a mission does change during the game. Also, spies may let a mission succeed to build trust so they will be picked later.
Nothing, but spies can (and should) play success to obfuscate things. The current meta in my regular group is that the spies never fail the first mission because it gives too much away. Also, teams might be rejected during the composition. Finally, the number of team members (generally) increases each round. Finally, the next leader may be a spy or have reasons to distrust the previous team(e.g. they failed a mission the new leader was on).
Also, there are occasionally missions that require a number of players equal to the number of resistance members. If I’m a resistance member and I’m not chosen for that mission, regardless of the success of the previous missions of everyone who was selected, you bet your ass I’m vetoing that team because I know, although I can’t prove, that at least one spy is on that team.

I want to see how it translates myself. Mafia is different online than in person, but it still works for both. I expect that this will be similar. I do think that some of the tells that might be noticed may not become apparent until after multiple games because they may depend more on playstyle rather than on information slips.

There are up to five rounds in the game. In each round a certain number of players will be selected to go on a mission. The number for each round is below:
1st round: 3 players
2nd round: 4 players
3rd round: 4 players
4th round: 5 players (this round will require two fail votes for the mission to fail)
5th round: 5 players
All rounds except the fourth will require only one fail vote for the mission to fail.
The players to go on the mission will be nominated by a leader. The leader position will rotate according to the following list:

Once a team is nominated, all players will vote to approve or reject the mission. 6 players must vote to approve for the mission to take place. Approve and reject votes will be made public.
If the team is rejected, the leader position passes to the next person in the list, who will nominate a team for the same round.
Once a mission is approved, the players on the mission will vote succeed or fail. Resistance members must vote succeed, spies may choose succeed or fail. The number of succeed and fail votes will be revealed, but the players casting the votes will not.
Johnny Bravo is our first leader. He needs to nominate a team of 3 players for the first mission. He may, but is not required to, nominate himself. Johnny, you may discuss whatever you wish in the thread, but please PM me the list of players you are nominating for the mission. Normally, I will allow about one day to pick players for a mission, but since the game is just starting and some players may not realize it right away, I will allow until 6:00 pm Wednesday (central time) for your nomination. You may send it to me earlier if you wish.
Players, you may discuss anything you like in this thread, but please do not discuss this game with other players outside this thread.
