In addition to the Death Pool what other games ought we to have for 2009?
I would propose:
Average price of gas (based on some US national web site) on 31 December. (Boring, as we all enter and then wait a year.)
A hypotethical 1,000US$ in the stock market (Tough to track, we would have to be on the honor system.)
Anything else?
(Someone replied! Someone replied!)
We could do the average price of gas for the last day of each month… 12 guesses to start, and still a lot of waiting, but it could at least get resurrected once a month to post the leaderboard (and griping)
I do not think that would work. It seems the November prediction would be linked to October and so on, so a small mistake at the beginning would snowball.
I think a one-year prediction would be worth doing. How about the 31 December 2009 price in US$ of:
a Euro
a gallon of gas
an ounce of gold
All in one thread? I like that idea, although it still has the wait-all-year problem.
I’m in!
We could use the game thread as the official score card. All trades must be announced on the dope. There might even be a fantasy stock market program out there somewhere.
I am not sure I would even want to play, but it would be fun to watch. Darn fun.
What sort of rules would we need?
