Garage band (macbook) for recording an interview

I need to do a short interview tomorrow morning, and I need to record the interview on my macbook air (just for transcribing). I’ve never used garage band before, but just found that it records. Will that do? Anything I should know? Will it just keep recording for about half an hour, or will it stop after a few minutes or something? (I suppose it’s meant for recording a song, not an interview of half an hour…)

Any advice appreciated!

It will work fine. There’s no time limit that I know of. I’d recommend playing with Garageband beforehand to get the hang of the interface. It has a built in metronome that’s turned on by default. If you don’t turn it off you’ll get a constant ticking throughout your recording.

You don’t happen to have an iPhone do you?
It comes with a very nice recording app.

Ha, that’s just the sort of thing I need to know! I turned it off. :stuck_out_tongue: Brilliant, thank you!

Other than that, it seems pretty straightforward. Press the button and off we go. I hope it saves it properly…

ETA: Sorry Beowulff, we simulposted. I don’t have an iPhone, and my phone is pretty rubbish. Sadly.
