Garfunkel and Oates

Damn, I just discovered this musical comedy duo yesterday after really enjoying Lindhome’s other show (Another period). I binge watched the entire G&O series (8 episodes) yesterday on netflix and today listened to pretty much every song they’ve got on youtube.

Amazing group. I’d probably say my favorite song they do is either Places to Rest or Loser.

I hope they keep doing albums and TV shows.

a very good one here

That is a good one, but I really prefer the TV showversion.

Some of their songs are hilarious (I like the blow jobsong) but a lot have really deep lyrics.

29/31 is great too.

They were the composers of Howard’s song to Bernadette on The Big Bang Theory, a series on which they’ve both appeared, though not together.

I saw them perform live at Second City a couple of years ago. They were mildly entertaining (worth the money I spent), but not absolutely hilarious.

I do hope they haven’t broken up as a comedy team. The success of Lindhome’s show might be bad news for G&O fans, if it means that she will now be too busy with other projects to work with Micucci.

As I like to mention every time they come up on here, I got to hang out w/ Riki and Kate one night after a live taping of the Comedy Death Ray podcast (now called Comedy Bang Bang) here in Chicago a few years back. We went to Moody’s Pub in Edgewater and had burgers and beers w/ them and Scott Aukerman and had a great time. They’re both incredibly nice people.

Did either of them speak?

j/k. Episode reference, of course.

If you like Riki Lindhome then I suggest you check out Hell Baby.

I wanted to like them. Can’t.

Yeah, Lindhome played the odd girl who wanted to be Sheldon’s girlfriend and share credit for his latest discovery.

“Get. Out.”
I love G&O. Nicely warped.

I think Kate Micucci is just adorable.

I enjoy watching their music videos on YouTube, and find their songs hilarious … but after watching the first episode of G&O on Netflix, meh. Couldn’t get into it.

I hadn’t heard that one before. The video is all Kate Micucci’s own art.

Yeah, I like the show, but I primarily have a hard-on for the “brown one.” I mean, Damn!

That one … resonated with my current work situation.

Neither of them is conventionally really attractive but they have a very distinct cuteness about them, and the show is funny!

I first became aware of them when Kate guested on Raising Hope. She was obviously meant to be a one-off, but they kept her has a character and she sang the doorbell song, which was so utterly charming that I went to see more online.

What I love is the way they sing about raunchy things in their innocent and matter-of-fact way.

And of course, there’s The Loophole.

As I say whenever this subject comes up… I will forever love Kate for calling her one woman musical show, “Playin’ with Micucci”.
