Garygnu Welcomes Babygnu

Mrs.gnu gave birth to our son this morning at 9:27. A healthy, 7lbs 4oz baby [del]ungulate[/del] boy. And not coincidentally, the sun came out for the first cloudless day in Washington since August.

Here’s a completely accurate, real picture* of us together.

*: “completely accurate, real picture” not intended to be a factual statement. I’ll have a more human-looking picture when I have one available.

Congratulations on the gnus!

Congratulations! Great picture!

I always love to hear great gnus!

(Ducks and runs while yelling congrats…)

So he’s a new gnu?

StG

I’m not kidding when I’m saying the zoo in our city once had two gnus. Their names were Weather and Sports. When the gnus Weather and Sports produced a calf, it was named Bulletin.

I can provide a cite but it’s embarrassing!

Congrats!

So, we can call you PapaGnu?

Congrats

Great gnus! And I didn’t know you were so hairy.

Congrats to all the participants.

It is quite reasonable for the new gnu to be too new a gnu to view.

He may have mom’s snout but he’s going to have your horns.

Congrats!

Congrats. I gnu you guys could do it!

Congratulations! Nice picture. Is that all the gnus that’s fit to print?

I can only add “Great new gnus news!”

A new gnu is good gnus!

Congrats!

Thanks everybody.

Here’s what my new, human offspring actually looks like at the moment.

Charming!

Congratulations. Is there a term for a baby gnu? Like a baby dog is a puppy or a baby kangaraoo is a joey.

No joke, I believe the collective noun for gnus is an “implausibility.” Like a herd of horses, a pack of dogs or even a murder of crows, it’s an implausibility of gnus.

Maybe a scoop of gnus?

Cute baby Gnu! Banquet Gnus are calves.
