Rumor has it that Grey’s Anatomy actress Kate Walsh is going to be starring in her own spinoff.
I say, great! I’m in love with Addison and I’m hoping for great things from this. I think her character is really engaging and personally I couldn’t care less about any of the dialogue or plot. I could just watch her for an hour. My only fear is that I am in the minority of TV audiences.
But now I want to hear your opinions on the feasibilty, etc. of the spinoff*
After watching a few episodes of the first season and HATING it, I was wheedled into watching S2 by an ADDIct, and that hooked me.
I would actually prefer it if they made Kate the star anyway - I despise the character of Meredith and if she (the character) was hit by a bus and fatally mangled in next week’s episode, I’d probably microwave some popcorn and have a party. So, yeah, in my opinion, Walsh could carry a show, especially if her following on LJ is any indication. Most GA icons around there involve Addi and her arch expressions.
I’ve wondered for a while how plausible it is that Addison would stay in a city she doesn’t like watching her ex-husband and his new girlfriend.
If they spin her back to Manhattan and keep the show more about her than teeny tiny babies’ lives hanging dramatically in the balance (I know there’d be some of that) I’d watch it. Afterall, she did get the NY townhouse in the divorce. That, my friends, is terrible thing to waste.
As long as Mark only shows up once to be soundly rejected and Derek doesn’t at all.
My only fear is that you represent the majority of TV audiences. You care not for dialogue and plot? All you care about is how much screen time your heroine has? Can the dumbing down of America get any worse?
Ms. Heigl is Model-Hot, but Ms. Walsh… with that hair, when she’s wearing those black glasses… is my number one pick for “Woman 15+ Years Older Than Me That I’d Like To, Um, Teach Me Some Lessons”. Mmmm.
I was surprised to hear they are planning a spin-off already. It’s only been 2.5 years, and only 1.5 featured Addison. I’m sure I’ll be watching though.
I really like her character, I’d like it if she got more screen time and better stories on the show with the rest of the ensemble cast. But Addison Montgomery isn’t (yet) a strong enough character to sustain a spinoff.
None of them are.
I agree it doesn’t make a lot of sense for her character to stick around and watch her ex be happy with a new woman. Since she’s supposedly over him, moving on makes the most sense. Best of luck to her, I am starting to think that Taye Diggs may have the cancellation curse, so she’s going to need it.
