I hate Cristina. Does she have ANY redeemable qualities? Would ANYONE want to spend more than 30 seconds in her irritating presence?
As someone whose wedding got hijacked by overzealous parents, I sympathized with her utterly. Also, she’s my favorite character on the show, second only to Bailey, who gets hardly any screen time. Could you be more specific about what you hate?
McDreamy is the one I hate. Vacillating, smarmy jerk.
Lol, I was thinking I hate Burke. Why would he try to turn her into something she’s not?
And who are all of these new characters? I have no idea who half of these people are supposed to be in the show. I must have missed a couple of episodes or something. When did they add Taye Diggs, Tim Daly, Amy Brennaman, the crooked CIA guy from Prison Break, and the black girl from King of Queens?
Oh I’m only 15 minutes into the episode. I’m not hating her because of anything going on in this episode. I have always hated her, and I just had to mention it. What do I not like about her? Everything. She is completely unlikeable. She has a horrible personality. She is unpleasant, unfriendly, self-centered, rude, and utterly awful in every way.
Not that most of the other characters are much better, but she is just so antisocial and unfriendly that I can’t even pretend to like her, or suspend my disbelief to think that any of the other characters wouldn’t completely shun her.
Compared to the McDreamy/McSteamy/Addison triangle of assholes, the George/Izzy idiocy, Burke with his Barbie Dream Wedding delusions, etc., finding Christina the worst character seems weird to me. She’s at least not smarmy or two-faced. I find her grouchy pragmatism refreshing, actually.
Indygrrl, the new characters are priming the pump for a new spin-off show featuring Addison. I hope that’s not a spoiler, if so, let a mod know with my apologies. Dunno if I’d watch it, since I really despise Addison and have zero sympathy for her as a character.
I’m glad they are putting Kate Walsh into the show more. I would totally go gay for her. She is by far the most charming woman on this show.
Haha, I posted this just as you were saying you disliked her. Opinions vary on this show, for sure.
The other characters at least seem to try to get along, or try to do or say nice things for/to each other at least some of the time. I get the feeling that they, while being selfish, at least do care about each other as well. Cristina? Aside from the brief moment where we discovered she gave a crap about Meredeth, I think that pretty much everyone else in the world could go to hell as far as she cares, as long as she gets what is good for her. She makes zero attempt to even superficially be friendly. I don’t like blatantly unfriendly people. I wouldn’t sit in the same room with that woman for longer than it took to walk to the other door, personally.
I like the actress and think she’s hot, but I don’t like the character. The most self-righteous adultress ever. The bad news is, since there’s a spinoff, she’s leaving the show, but you could tune into that for more Addison-y goodness.
I’m not really loving the new characters, despite the hotness of Taye Diggs. I have never liked Amy Brennamen. And I missed the entire first season so I don’t really know what Addison did. All I remember is the Patrick Dempsey character carrying on with Meridith while he was married to Addison. And that she used to have curly hair but looks much better with it straight.
Yeah, it was pretty meh.
Actually, McDreamy left NY after he found out that Addison and McSteamy were fucking. She told him it was just that once, but she actually was doing it for months, even lived with him after Derek left. Then she showed up at Seattle Grace out of the blue to save her marriage. Derek, for some reason, went for it. Meredith, who didn’t even know Derek was married, got totally blindsided. See why I hate McDreamy now?
Wait… I’m confused… was the surfer guy supposed to be hot? Um… bleah??
Whoa, OK, Meredith’s father is the biggest asshole ever. Was that ever uncalled for. Fuck that guy.
Christina is the young, hot Asian girl version of the grouchy old curmudgeon yelling “Get off my lawn!” People who know and love her know it’s a front. She loves Burke and really wants to make him happy, going so far as to have a bullshit fancy wedding just to make him and their parents happy. Is she going to be grumpy about it? Well, sure. I guess you either accept people like that (she’s loyal as hell to her friends) or you miss out on them. I bet she wouldn’t care either way.
No shit. And her mom was a horrid cunt. How’d she end up being a caring, if somewhat annoying, doctor?
If she was just grumpy about the wedding it would be different. She’s grumpy and rude all of the time. Since before she was engaged. Since the dawn of time. She’s just a hateful person.
OK, wait a sec, grumpy =/= hateful. She’s not hateful. She’s lacking in social graces but I think there are at least 5 other characters who I could name off the top of my head who are far more selfish, nasty, and fucked up than Christina. You don’t like her personal style, but she’s not actually a bad person, just kind of rude. I tend to appreciate that in a person, so YMMV.
YMMV but not mine? I think she comes across as hateful. I don’t think of people who are always completely inconsiderate and rude to the people they call friends are worth being around. Seems like you are saying that I can’t have my opinion. Like yours is right and mine is invalid. Sorry, but it doesn’t work that way. For one thing, she’s a fictional character, so there is no “real her” beyond what we see. What I see is a totally despicable person. You don’t. That’s fine, but it doesn’t mean I’m wrong. (And yes, I think a lot of other people on that show are horrible as well, I just think I could tolerate being around them if I had to. Her? No way.)
You need to relax. Really. I simply don’t see what is so hateful about her. I asked for examples, you’ve given none but you don’t like her. If you want to explain what she’s done that you find so awful, go ahead. I think this show has a disproportional number of characters who are not very morally good people: adulterers, people who are mean to their kids, liars, people who deliberately hurt others. All I ever see Christina do that is bad is her rudeness and insensitivity, mostly with her way of expressing herself. She hasn’t ever majorly fucked anyone over that I can remember. If you can correct me, please do. If not, I’m gonna retain the impression that you just don’t like her personal style.
Fictional characters have layers if they’re written remotely well. Christina has a grumpy demeanor but there are many examples of her being a good friend and a good SO to Burke (the most stable romantic relationship b/w characters on the show, which is not saying much). I can ask for a CITE on this despicable-ness even about a TV show character, if you want to continue to be inexplicably pissy about it. I never said you were wrong, and you are taking my disagreeing with you about a TV show way, way too personally.
No I’m just thinking it’s weird that you seem to have this need to “prove me wrong” about my opinion about a tv character. Anyway, this is the stupidest thing ever. I’m unsubscribing from this thread, I have more fun ways I can think of to waste my time.
My, you’re awfully grumpy, aren’t you?
Christina’s not hateful; she’s abrupt. She’s focused. But she’s deeply loyal - she did everything in her power to support Burke when he was having trouble with his hand. She’s mad about him - enough so to make all sorts of sacrifices for him. That’s my favourite plot in the show. I’m not liking the ‘let’s have all the men doubt their relationships’ theme the show’s taking. I’ll be extremely ticked if Burke drops Christina and George drops Cali. And I’m mad that Izzy is now apparently hopelessly in love with George when she’s just barely over Denny.
As for the ‘new’ show, I’d watch it for the Taye Diggs/Tim Daly eye candy (plus the younger hottie) but only if there’s not too much Addison. I never did like her and couldn’t hack a whole show focused on her.
I hate them all. Seriously. All of them. Selfish rat bastards the lot of them.
My sig other loves the show.
