Just filled up in Dahlgren, VA for $2.239 this morning. In MD, it’s 10-15 cents more - we’ve got higher gas taxes, so I fill up on my way to work.

Onomatopoeia:
Regular, at the station near my house went to $1.99 this morning. whoo!
The last time I remember gas being 99 cents was when I closed on my house, which was August of 2000. I only remember this because I was driving down a new (to me) road, and everything, even the rusty, old gas station, seemed to have a rosy glow that day.
Yeah, it was in late 1999, early 2000. Seems hard to believe it was that cheap only 9-10 years ago.
£1.089 a litre here in England, which is about $6.56 a gallon . Just one of the reasons I got rid of my car.
There’s a Wawa a few miles up Rt. 30 selling gas at only $2.08 per gallon. According to gasbuddy.com , the cheapest in the state is $2.02, so $1.99 gas must be pretty rare.

Thought question for all dopers. When do you think gas was last 99 cents/gal? (US) 1970, 1980, 1985, 1990, 1995, 2000, 2005? No fair cheating.
I’ll come back in the morning (7:30 am, EDT) and tell you. Remember, no fair Googling. I personally was surprised when I found out the answer. And, for purposes of this thread, I’m not talking about Calif. which is always more.
Last I remember is 1999-2000, same as others. I remember filling up my old truck for .80/gal.
Yeah, but that’s on a motorcycle!
Right now in and about the Queen City you’re looking at $2.11/gal on average.
