I’m in the UK and despite being one of the worlds biggest exporters compared to domestic consumption it still costs roughly $6 a gallon all the time. Count yourself lucky that at least your prices will go back down.
I’m sorry but I don’t know if the UK,AKA England, produces gasoline at home.
Your financial structure is not what the US’s is.
$6 recorded in Ft. Collins, friend-of-a-friend who works at a gas station recieved an email informing her to jack up the prices starting at 5 am tomorrow morning. Fill up yer tanks, if you’re in Colorado.
Some states are creating modified states of emergency. They just did that here in Texas. I’m not sure what-all is entailed by this, but the news said it was supposed to prevent price gauging (sp?) They gave the number of the states attorney general to report abuses. You might want to check your state to see if similar rules are in effect.
Yes, $4.99 here in KC. I thought that the states didn’t need to commit a low-level state-of-emergency act because that basically goes into effect when the U.S. is at the current DefCon?
Where in KC? I’ve seen lots of lines forming in front of gas stations, but haven’t seen any proof of raised prices. On the news they’ve reassurred that prices won’t be raised.
Here in my area of Texas, it’s still going for the same price as yesterday ($1.35 for regular, $1.49 for premium), but my dad (in Ohio) says it jumped from $1.60 to $2.10 in the matter of just a couple of hours. At that, my grandmother (who lives in SE Kentucky, on the Virginia border) says that prices were up to $5.50 there – and they were rationing. I don’t know what it is this morning, but it is usual that their prices are considerably higher than ours in this area, owing to the fact that transport to all areas is more difficult.
IMHO, anyone who is price gouging over this ought to be hung higher than Haman.
Why so costly? I thought you guys had access to pretty large North Sea etc oil fields. Wouldn’t those mitigate the cost of petrol vs the rest of Europe to some extent or is that oil/gas for export and not public consumption?
