Gatorade - why the gross colours?

why is Gatorade coloured so strongly with highly unnatural colours? the orange one tastes gross, i’m sure it tastes more of the colouring agent than orange flavour. and then there’s that blue one and all the rest.

it annoys me cos Gatorade is good in that it doesnt have too much sugar, but those colours put me off!

Drink the clear one.

is there a clear one?

we dont get it in UK really it’s just when i was in USA on holiday i tried it afew times. never saw a clear one - there was a sort of cloudy colour but no clear one.

The clear one is called “Lemon Ice” or “Lemonade” here in the US – IMHO it’s the best flavor they make (it tastes like weak lemonade… sorry “lemon crush” to you Brits.) You can also buy this flavor in powdered form and make it yourself, it is very economical that way. You’ll find any number of sites on the web that sell it but be careful you don’t accidentally buy “Lemon-lime” which is the original green Gatorade.

BTW, I think the cloudy one is Glacial Freeze, I have no idea what it tastes like. Lemon Ice is completely clear and colorless. It isn’t really one of their more trendy or fashionable flavors so quite a few groceries don’t carry it.

Hey I like the lemon-lime and the fruit punch one and when I can get it, this blue one that’s labelled “fierce <somethingorother>”. This is NOT the regular blue one that’s riptide rush or something like that.
Why all the colors? Marketing gimmick of course. It doesn’t cost much to produce a few more colors and gain more consumers. Lots of folks don’t like the sweet tart taste of the original lemon-lime. Fruit punch or grape flavors are usually popular with kids.
I have the powder and make it about 1/3 strength. yumm and gets me to drink less coke.

The unnatural colours mesh nicely with the unnatural flavours.

Well, at least they don’t have brown…
