Gay and lesbian bookstores in Montreal

I’m going to Montreal next month, and have heard that L’Androgyne has closed down! So, where do I go now in Montreal to stock up on gay and lesbian books? Any advice?

Can’t you stock up before you go? I’m just curious. Aren’t there any bookstores near where you live? Or do you just expect to find different material?

I live in a smallish town with four bookstores, and three of them have absolutely no gay and lesbian section whatsoever. The fourth (a mega-chain) has about one shelf of gay/lesbian titles. So, in my city you can choose from about 25 non-fiction titles. Most of these are male-oriented (I’m a lesbian - not that I mind reading gay titles). I do order books from the internet, but it is so much nicer being able to thumb through the books before you purchase. That way you have an idea of the quality and appeal of the title. I am going to Montreal to visit a friend (I live in BC). I’m not going specifically to stock up on my GLBT literature, but will do so gladly while I’m there!

I’m just going to give this a little <bump>, hoping to get a response or two.

Well, Priape has expanded their collection ever so slightly to include a few non-porn non-erotica books, but you certainly won’t find the kind of stuff you could get at L’Androgyne. :frowning:

I’ll let matt_mcl help you here. He’s more into books than I am.

Ultra, I would suggest heading over to Little Sisters’ website, where you can order from their stock. That’s what I’ve been doing. http://www.littlesistersbookstore.com/index.html

There’s also a reasonable crop of French gay and lesbian titles at the Renaud-Bray in the village (corner of Sainte-Catherine and… is it Montcalm? Either Montcalm or Wolfe.)
