Indeed, and this is likely the case, at least for Type II diabetes. It’s quite likely that a LOT of people in past generations have had Type II diabetes, but it went undiagnosed either because they died of other causes before it expressed, or because their diets were such that the symptoms never developed. (Type II diabetes appears to be unusually common in some Native American groups, whose traditional diets are such that the symptoms never arise.)
It is, however, NOT the case that diet causes diabetes: these people have diabetes no matter what they eat. It is the combination of diet and genetics that makes the disease apparent. Too many people are claiming that diet causes diabetes when in fact it’s just that some people don’t have the genes for the diet. Another person, with different genes, can handle that diet just fine.
Sorry for the hijack, this is somewhat off the topic.
No, you didn’t, you said that all AIS females are gay. You haven’t substantiated that claim yet, though. You merely said that there was a connection between PCOS and being gay, for which I provided contrary anecdotal evidence. Feel free to provide additional evidence in favor of your claim.
It’s bad enough that we have to put up with stereotypes about lesbians. But do they have to be perpetrated by other lesbians?
Or maybe pohjonen the scientific definition of male and female has no real meaning to wether or not someone is female or male in society. You can call them men, but don’t be suprised if it just shows that you don’t know what you are talking about.
As for a cite that they are gay here is one that says they have sex drives just like any other women. http://members.tripod.com/~annierichards/ais.htm
It says Statistically their leanings towards heterosexuality, lesbianism or bisexuality seem to be no different from females in general.
I agree that AIS individuals for all intents and purposes develop as female, although born with XY chromosomes, which means they biologically start out male. Which goes back to my point about HORMONES influencing the body and brain. Which goes back to my point about sexual orientation being genetic (at least part of the time). Which is all I’ve been trying to say here all along. It seems obvious to me that “gender” has a much vaster array than XY = male and YY = female and that there are oceans of degrees in between, and these are due to genetic factors. And the fact that these variations exist and persist does not mean there is a evolutionary advantage to them. I fail to see why some of you are having such a problem with these statements. I think some of y’all just like to split hairs.
