Gay marriage in Minnesota

It just passed the Senate and it’s just up to Governor Dayton who has already pledged to sign the bill. CONGRATULATIONS TO MY HOME AND HOME STATE>

:mad::cool::):rolleyes::eek::confused:

Congratulations! I wish Kansas had equal marriage laws, but I doubt Gov. Brownback would sign a bill, even if the legislature passed it. He’s the one who just signed a bill for more abortion restrictions, with the law stating “life begins at conception.”

So proud of my state right now.

Congratulations, I look forward to a day when gay marriage is legal in all states - unfortunately it probably won’t happen in my lifetime (the way things are going).

Yeah!! I predict I’ll be getting some wedding invitions in the next 6 months!

Congrats to our neighbors to the northwest! Illinois is having issues getting enough Congresscritters who’ll vote for it, even though it passed our Senate and the governor will sign. Sigh…

Although I live in MN, most of my news comes from Wisconsin.
Did the opponents consider a filibuster?

The speed is what is interesting. About 6 months since the defeat of the anti-equal marriage amendment.

Way to go!

Wow, Michele Bachmann isn’t going to like this one bit.

Icing on the cake.

As a matter of fact…

Door/ass/etc.

(BTW, that’s a parody website.)

Marcus Bachmann might think otherwise… Just sayin…

Dan Savage had an excellent tweet about this:

Oregon doesn’t strike me as the best long-term solution to Mrs Bachmann’s problem. On the plus side doesn’t she have to resign from Congress if she moves out of state?

The Daily Currant is a parody website, like the Onion, but not really funny.

I live in one of the relatively few areas where my congresscritter is Republican and voted for this. Damn, will have to break my no Republican votes vendetta for this particular critter.

I think what happened is that the strength of the rejection of the anti-gay marriage vote galvanized people to think…“Hey, maybe just maybe if we pushed now we would have a chance”.

That is indeed the conventional political wisdom of what happened here.

Plus, there was an energized network of activists who had worked very hard to defeat the constitutional ban … and they smelled blood in the water!

The way things are going? Three states in two weeks is actually a pretty positive trend.
