Gazelle exercise machine?

Has anyone tried or bought this. Normally I do not look at junk like this, but it has peaked my curiosity. I am doing well with my weight bench, but also need to do a consistend Cardio workout as well. I ride my bike on the weekends, but do not have a chance during the week for a good ride. Also, I tried jogging, but it bothers my knee a little. I have considered a treadmill, but they are too large and expensive. This thing looks more apartment friendly. I would like to hear any comments or experiences about this machine.

TIA

My mom bought one of these. I tried it once. It was pretty easy, and it did get the old heart going pretty good. Much better than the Nordic Track Walkfit she had. That was a “nightmarish hellscape of unrelenting horror”. You had to be an Olympic class athlete to last five minutes on this thing, I think. The Gazelle was a cakewalk by comparison.

How’s the quality of its construction? Solid through and through?

(Don’t mind me. I assume that all infomercials are covering something up. Just cynical, I guess.)

It seemed solid enough (well, actually it’s hollow, but you know what I mean). I saw a few seconds of the infomercial last night and the construction has changed a lot since I tried it. This was about three or four years ago.

I bought one on a whim,
It was a bitch to assemble, which of course they don’t tell you, probably because if they did, no one would go for the ‘free 30 day’ in home trial…it was ok, but I had to go for an hour before I felt like I had accomplished anything. They also never tell you up front how much it costs about $300…
The thing caused my sciatica to act up after a few weeks.
I saw something on MSN about it, saying that you’d have to be a 250 lbs linebacker going ridiculously fast to burn the amount of calories they say you can.

It was a huge PAIN IN THE ASS disassembling it, and trying to get it back in the box. I’m still waiting for the UPS call tag to pick it up.

I have a fitness center in my complex, so I couldn’t justify the cost of the thing.
my $.02

Thanks for the info. I did not realize it was so expensive, and having some time to think about it, I am going to pass on it. I will stick with doing my fast walk/jogging for 30 minutes or so. Also, I think just getting outside is much more appealing than having some machine in my room in front of the idiot box.
