Gee, d'ya think this woman is genuine???

I really can’t tell.:confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused:

I don’t know. I couldn’t withstand the guy’s hemming and hawing long enough to find out.

Force yourself. Yeah, the guy’s on-camera presence leaves a lot to be desired, but all in all the piece is brilliant.

Very funny!!!

Umm, I don’t like to click on a link without any clue as to what they are. And without knowing what the OP thinks of it.

Didn’t watch but, unless it’s a video about a real doll, or whatever, I’ll vote “yes”.

For people who don’t want to click (and I admit the maladroit presentation by some guy named Sam Seder is utterly intolerable - like wool-blanket covered in flea colonies intolerable) here’s the gist:

A series of anti-Democrat attack ads stars “Stacy”, a blonde “Mom, Wife, Teacher”. The ads start with a close-up of a kitschy sign that reads “I love our home”. The ads follow a script that accuses “Washington” (Democrats, really) of wasting time with impeachment when they should “fix the opioid crisis” or “secure the border”. Stacy expresses her disappointment with a particular congressional representative. Text encourages the viewer to call this representative and tell them to get to work on “the issues that matter.”

Stacy never says “Democrat” (or “Republican”) but the ads are evidently made for many different districts, featuring the same actress, the same script, same music and series of visuals, varying only in the name of the supposedly disappointing representative. Shown are:

Abby Finkenauer (D - Iowa 1st)
Xochitl Torres Small (D - New Mexico 2nd)
Andy Kim (D - New Jersey 3rd)
Susie Lee (D - Nevada 3rd)
Max Rose (D - New York 11th)
Anthony Brindisi (D - New York 22nd)
Matt Cartwright (D - Pennsylvania 8th)
Ben McAdams (D - Utah 4th)
Jared Golden (D - Maine 2nd)
Elaine Luria (D - Virginia 2nd)
Abigail Spanberger (D - Virginia 7th)

An ad about Josh Gottheimer (D - New Jersey 5th) is mentioned but not shown. A visual of a stern-looking Nancy Pelosi is included in all versions of the ad.

Stacy gets around. The ads are paid for by the “American Action Network”, which wikipedia says is “aligned to the Republican Party”. I’m shocked. The “Stacy” ads are not currently listed under their “Activities.” They probably should be, right after their claim that the Green New Deal would cost at least $50 trillion and possibly in excess of $90 trillion (though at that point, does it really matter?).

The Pubs have been sending out fake “official govt notifications” for years. This is only the next step into their descent into the party of utterly dishonest, hate filled, lying snakes. I"d sooner vote for the Devil himself. These guys would sell Eve an apple for $19.95 and it would only impart Knowledge of Evil, plus a bad taste that makes you sick.

Stacy’s a mom, she’s got it goin’ on…

I like Sam Seder for the most part, to an extent. (His Bernie allegience is bordering on counterproductive, big picture-wise IMO.) That video took a few minutes to build up steam, I’m alright with that. By the time he was playing all the ads simultaneously, I was laughing out loud. You know, but that’s me.

The Stacy ad starts at about 1 min 25 seconds if you want to go right to it.

Me neither. How about a brief description of what the video’s about?

Lock her up for voter fraud. Ther’es clear intent here.
She can fight with the maybe minimu wage they PAID her to lie.

I’m tending toward being a political news junkie, clicking on Seth and his A Closer Look; Trevor Noah; sometimes even Sam Bee. :smack:

I draw the line at Sam Seder. Out of courtesy to a fellow Doper I did waste almost five seconds on this one.

YouTube has a scrollbar which lets you see when Sam Seder’s face disappears from the screen. I always used that before I stopped clicking on Sam Seder altogether.

But: (Spoiler Alert) The stupid woman with her stupid whine is obviously a paid actress for a political commercial. Over the next nine months we will be bombarded with more lies than the lies of all of the previous centuries of human civilization added together. Take deep breaths and get over it.

Its definitely misleading, but I don’t see how it rises to the level of outright fraud.

She’s an actress. Her JOB is to lie.

Sorry, but I have to admit that I did not manage to get to the relevant part of that video.
I tried.
first two times i fell asleep somewhere between “um”, and “sigh <dramatic pause>”

the third try I has a lot of caffeine in me, and instead of ennui the guy triggered irritation.
Still could not get to the relevant bits in his program, much less watch the whole of it.
That video is the most painful 362 billion nanoseconds I’ve ever encountered.

Vote Republican!

We may be misleading, but according to our lawyers, you can’t charge us with fraud™

Shrug.

No different than those lawyer commercials with the local shyster’s name dubbed in at the end.

My jimmies remain unrustled over a cheap ad.
