Apparently this guy is saying that the reason Palin was calling Obama a ‘community organizer’ was actually a veiled bit of racism towards Obama. What a crock…here is a guy launching claims of racism when there was absolutely nothing!
Clearly, the laughter was directed at the blatant hypocrisy of the Obama campaign which claims Palin shouldn’t be on the ticket because she lacks experience…lol. If they want to go by that logic then Obama shouldn’t be on the ticket either…I mean come on! Such hypocrisy! I find it very amusing myself…
On the contrary, the Obama campaign has not been saying that Palin lacks the necessary experience. They’ve been going after her based upon her political record. They have also been pointing out that the McCain campaign has been claiming for months that Obama lacks the appropriate experience and that claimed that when McCain chose his VP nomination, it would be someone “ready for the job”, not someone picked out of political expediency.
I stand corrected about Obama’s campaign. Still doesn’t deal with the fact that McCain’s campaign had been hammering, “experience, experience, experience” while proclaiming that their VP nomination would be someone “ready for the job”, not due to political expediency.
The Governor is right on target about the Community Organizer shots being coded racial smears. They were intended to evoke images, not of organizers but of activists like Al Sharpton.
Obama has never tried to say that being a community organizer qualifies him to be POTUS, so the “hypocrisy” defense lacks any basis. It was race baiting, pure and simple.
No, I think the laughter was because Palin took a cheap shot at Obama, and the assholes listening to the speech think it’s somehow funny to belittle the well meaning efforts of another person to make other people’s lives a little better. Ha ha, look at him, trying to help. What a chump.
It’s perfectly reasonable, and not hypocritical in the slightest, to consider the foreign policy experience Obama has, his presence in the national spotlight for the past 4 years, and intense public scrutiny he’s been through for the past 2 years experience enough to trump Sarah Palin, who was a national nobody until August 29th, 2008.
Oh, and before you vomit the words “executive experience” on me, show me a correlation between presidential success and so-called “executive experience”. Some of our most respected presidents had none (Lincoln, JFK, Truman, LBJ - though in his case, I guess you can say he ran a pretty good Southern campaign for JFK).
No thanks I won’t bother…all I really cared to say was that the governor was being a race-card playing asshole who towards the end of the article practically admits it.
When people have to say “what I’m saying…” that is code for “aww shit I stepped in shit and now I need to explain what I really meantl” According to the article "Paterson does say he’s not certain that’s happening…what a dork.
Coded rather cryptically, I’d say. I fancy myself as having at least average intelligence, and I never made the connection. I guess the racist voters in their target audience are much cleverer than I?
Sorry. It was obviously a smear, but to call it racial is, IMO, setting the threshold way too low.
Hmmm Obama took stewardship of the subcommittee on European Affairs, but the last I heard was that he hasn’t a single policy hearing since he took the lead of that subcommittee in January of 2007. According to HRC Obama hasn’t done jack squat on that subcommittee…so what are you talking about that he as foreign policy experience? He just padded his resume…nothing more.
The subcommittee Obama chairs is part of a larger body, the U.S. Senate Committee on Foreign Relations, which you’ll notice, holds frequent sessions as a whole. To be fair, the website doesn’t mention attendance, but that’s not really the point. Unless we can be sure that it’s standard for the individual subcommittees to “hold substantive oversight hearings” and Obama was neglecting his duties, we can’t really make a judgment here.
Regardless, I wasn’t speaking directly about that committee. Obama has visited various foreign countries officially as a Senator.
