Obama = Jesus, Palin = Pilate. Change is in the air.

So I’m listening to Obama talk about changing politics and agreeing, though I know it’s bullshit.

I keep hearing from Dopers how some Congresscritter from the GOP says something dumb and therefore paints the party with a wide brush.

Heh

So where’s the outrage liberal Dopers?

Jeez, when the Republicans turn into whiny little bitches?

It’s a freakin’ joke, ace. A witty bon mot in response to the RNC speeches sneeringly laughing at “community organizers”. When the libs start calling Mr. Palin a racist who hates America, then get back to me.

A simple bon mot? Yeah, the GOP has never been eviscerated for one of those. :dubious:

But you deflect the statement. Figures.

Well, to be honest, the GOP hasn’t been intentionally funny since Confederacy of Dunces.

Deflection my ass. I answered. It’s a frickin’ joke, based on the sneers of the Republicans to “community organizers”. Or do you really think that he was ACTUALLY accusing Palin of supporting the murder of Jesus somehow? That he was serious?

Like I said, whiny bitches. Even over little jokes.

I think it quite telling that the presidential candidates have used the inflammatory rhetoric of the OP and it reflects quite poorly on their character.

Now, if people they had no control over had used those words, it wouldn’t reflect on their character at all.

It is just a witticism, but, man, that was a terrible, deflating delivery.

Yes, terrible delivery.

But also, clearly in direct response to Palin’s line, “I guess being a governer is sort of like being a community organizer, except you have actual responsibilities.”

Because Palin is a professed devout Christian, pointing out the respective job titles of Jesus and Pilate is funny.

Bullshit.

Too bad it promotes the meme of Obama as the Messiah. Which Obama blamed on the McCain campaign!

Dear Obama and all of you Obamalaters,

Fuck you.

You know what, duffer? I really liked your long absence. It was great. Think you might be doing it again any time soon?

Right back atcha. --And get it straight, infidel; we’re not “Obamalaters”, we’re the Obamajadin.*

I can’t get offended by these stupid quips, but when I watched that video, he didn’t seem to be joking. He seemed dead serioius to me.

Just a joke? Riiiiight… Was he channelling Steven Wright or something?

Ya know it’s ok to say that the guy was wrong… they won’t make you blow Karl Rove for it…

You have any idea how much tequila and bongwater it takes to get that image out of my brain? Well, you will when the bill arrives.

My apologies… we’ll consider it psychotherapy so I can forward it to my insurance company…

Oh, come on. With that crack about community organizers, Palin came in leading with her chin. She deserved what she got.

Nope. Not anytime soon. Next question.

I like to save my outrage for when people do and say outrageous things.

Can you explain what is outrageous about this? I’m willing to be convinced.

Really? You think that somehow this yahoo thinks that Palin would send Jesus to death row? You think he means that Obama is Jesus and Palin would kill him if the crowd asked her to?

Damn John, you’re smarter than that. Sure the guy can’t deliver a joke to save his life, but you really think he meant it? He’s a schmo repeating a joke that’s been all over the internets since the RNC. Not a big deal. Unless you’re in a fit of consumption and looking desperately to be insulted by something.

I didn’t bother listening to the video, but I saw the quote and yeah, it’s pretty crappy.

Since members of both parties are slingin’ the shit, however, and since this teapot tempest doesn’t seem to have anything to do with Obama, I hope you’ll understand that you have not convinced me to vote for the GOP presidential ticket come November. Sorry.

I think he said something without really thinking it thru.

I’ll watch it again, but he seemed pretty pissed off. I didn’t pick up anything jockular in his manner.
