I don’t care what anybody else says, it’s good to see you back, you ravening pinheaded running dog of imperialism! I missed you.
Your friend, ETF the blithering idiot loony leftwing nutjob.
Not that my joy will forestall me from chopping you off at the knees in any future political threads, should the spirit so move me.
He REPEATED, poorly I will add, a little witticism that was going around. It had, I’m guessing here, but nothing to do with “Bridge Inspection and Repair” (the supposed topic of his speaking), but was, instead, a frickin’ joke.
Well, be fair – he doesn’t look like he’s built for athletic endeavors.
Really? That’s too bad.
When they became (reality or perception) a hunted minority in these parts. That would be my guess anyway. The Dems OTOH…when Bush was elected and then worse when he was RE-elected.
I’ve seen the clip…if it was supposed to be a joke it was the driest delivery of all time. But if you say it’s a joke I’m sure that’s what the official party line is going to be.
Wasn’t very funny though…just sayin.

And was that the world’s worst comb-over or did a congressional whoosh ruffle his hair? What is up with that guy’s hair? No stand up career for him. But the comment was funny–how come the GOP can dish it out, but not take it?
No, upon careful review, you and the other skeptics are absolutely correct. It was no joke. He honestly believes that Barack Obama is the second coming of Jesus Christ and that Palin is the reincarnation of Pilate, intent on crucifying the Lord for the second time. I’m glad you guys have a better ear for this sort of thing than I do, because I would’ve just written it off as the lame repetition of a running joke, and completely missed the profound subtleties. Please, I implore you, stay vigilant for the rest of us!
Well, I’m not sure if he was SERIOUS…it just didn’t look like he was joking to me. Or I suppose I just don’t get the joke.
Humor is, um, funny like that.

I don’t think it was a joke, but I do think he was trying to be clever. Since comparison to Jesus is the last thing Obama needs (even if you could make a case for it, it’s arrogance epitomized), it wasn’t terribly clever at that.

If they’re going to really ride the analogy out properly, they’ll need to have an inner Democrat betray Obama, and then have Palin offer the Democrats the choice of Obama or a suitable Barrabas proxy. Then the Democrats condemn Obama, with a thoroughly disgusted Palin washing her hands of the matter. The Romans didn’t fuck Jesus, so much as Judas Iscariot and assorted Priests. The Crucifixion was an inside job, remember, The Romans were all about local control.
It’s just a stupid, petty talking point, up there with LipstickPitBullPigGate.
Could both parties please stop acting like fucking 13-year-olds and start marketing their platforms?
When did Republicans turn into such weeping, wet vaginas? You can dish it out but you sure as hell can’t take ut.
Well, the argument of “They said this, so we get to say that” doesn’t sound like “change”. This thread is proving that.
Yeah, because if you’re not joking, you mean everything you say to be literally true. Sorry, bud, but you’ve got yourself a false dichotomy there.
McCain is a reincarnation of pope John Paul II.
There is nothing offensive about the Jesus-Pilate line. It was a rejoinder to Republicans sneering at an honorable job. I’ve been a community organizer and Palin can kiss my ass. If she can’t take the heat for her own words, she can go the hell back to her polar bears.
But the accusation IS that he was literally comparing Palin to Pilate. The line is not about Palin and Obama as specific people, it’s about making sweeping statements about entire professions.
Yeah. The Scottish expression for this is “they don’t like it up them”.
How else should I interpret the suggestion that he was “being serious” when making the statement? That he wasn’t grinning? I’ll concede that.
Granted, it’s not a side-splitter for the ages, like “community ORGANIZER… huh huh huh HUH HUH HUH HUH!!!” but it’s pretty obviously a wry-humored joke, in response to that one. How are you interpreting it?
