Geek Feud, indeed!
Egads, you’re right!
Omniscient, I’m going to take refuge in the words of a great American commentator:
Which doesn’t mean you’re wrong. Just that I can cover my own inconsistencies with the words of someone famous.
ETA: sturmhauke, you’re just trying to start trouble, aren’t you? Of course, I’m not sure you could really make an effective gaming hierarchy in just two dimensions, not if you want to acknowledge cross-pollination.
Besides, you forgot card games completely on your heirarchy, as well as gaming.
I still get to make flow charts, right? Ok, sweet.
Warhammer uses miniatures and involves magic and fantastic creatures, but it’s still organized around unit-based tactics and maneuvers. Military Madness uses a hex grid with unit tiles, essentially. If you think it’s too stripped down compared to Advanced Squad Leader, and maybe it is, perhaps you’d prefer Panzer General or The Operational Art of War. These games are at least related to wargames, if nothing else.
I did say it was just a small bit of hierarchy. A complete graph would be quite unwieldy and likely to spark a lot of heated debate, I’m sure.
