Gene Simmons speaks up against muslims

Why oh why?

He does have the right to voice his opinion though, but it’s just ridiculous.

Outrage as KISS player mouths off on Muslims

Among the tidbits:

“This is a vile culture and if you think for a second that it’s willing to just live in the sands of God’s armpit you’ve got another thing coming,” says he.

“The Israeli-born US musician went on to say Islam was a “vile culture” that treated women worse than dogs.”

I always proof would emerge that KISS is the greatest band ever.

:smack: always knew

From your cite:

Bolding mine.

So what is the problem here?

…but the rest of that sentence is irrelevant.

I can voice my opinion too, can’t I?

Brutus,

No problem with that part you quoted but the article goes on:

No mention that’s it’s just the extremist there.

That is the problem here, or rather the problem in Australia

I like to think that innocent people are still capable of resisting the sophisticated brainwashing techniques of Gene Simmons.

He can say whatever he wants, and Gene - although I have an undying respect for his immense knowledge of world affairs - has chosen to make some comments that make him sound like a douche.

Who’d have thought a guy famous for having a giant tongue would be able to stick his foot in his mouth?

Considering this is a guy who made his fame and fortune on his ability to piss off Christians, I say this rates a big “Meh.”

Yeah, I’d say that considering that no one is paying Gene Simmons for his skill at diplomacy, his tremendous sensitivity, or his knowledge of world events, international affairs, or politics…

…that this is of no importance whatsoever, no? :dubious:

Not according to Tipper Gore.

Gene REALLY botched his chance at winning the Nobel Peace Prize, didn’t he? And this was SO his year, too!

It’s not really surprising, considering he was born in Israel, and is Jewish. I imagine he’s had those sentiments some time.

Although his comment is ridiculous, I do believe that Gene is given a bit too much credit here of being capable to cause much of anything.

It is somewhat amusing to see an over-the-hill-prepackaged-talent mouthing off about world affairs.

Does no one else see the extreme irony in Gene Simmons complaining about the treatment of women?

Gad, I’m glad someone else stopped dead on that one.

Gotta love pop culture, mainly because so much of the pontificating is so damned silly. These people live in (for?) the limelight so you’d think they’d be slightly savvier. Unless they’re drunk on their own fame, I guess.
Celebrities are citizens so they’re entitled to opinions but I’ll never understand why journalism grants them any extra coverage outside their area of fame.
On second thought, I do understand. The aim is make bucks, not inform, so the journalists and celebrities whore each other.

News at 10! Brad Pitt on stem cell research, Cameron Diaz on economic recovery and Whatsername Garofolo on UN Treaties.

A person couldn’t make up this shit.

good point.
Just read an interveiw with Nikki Sixx, who says his 3 year old daughter is much smarter than the strippers he’s known.

These guys have such a low opinion of women.
Of course, it different from Muslim’s.

and Carrot Topp pontificates on partial birth abortion.

I scrolled down that far before someone pointed that out!
