General Questions board

For the last week or so I can’t connect to the General Questions board. The error message I get is **FW-1 at nokia1: Failed to connect to the ww w server. **, so it seems that the problem is at my company’s server. But I can acess all the other boards here. Any ideas why that would be?

I’m having the same problem.

GQ, and ONLY GQ gives me the following error:

I get this with EVERY thread, no matter what.

Things are loading OK for me, but the last couple of days I’ve noticed a minor slowdown–I’ve been assuming that the techs are still fiddling around with the software. When we switched over from UBB to vB, there was a huge punch list that we all submitted (see the various “MB/software bugs” threads here in ATMB), so I imagine that that might be part of it. The techs are finally getting around to laying the new linoleum and hanging the curtains (No, not THOSE curtains, these over here in this box…I don’t care what Diane said, these are the ones…no, she is NOT the official SDMB interior decorator…I don’t CARE what she told you…don’t make me come over there…)

Lemme go ask and see if I can find out anything.

You aren’t connecting right to the board, you are connecting thru a whole bunch of computers on the way to the board & they all have to work. U go thru hubs & routers & a program that does a traceroute can tell you which computer on the path is slow.

Ditto here. Only GQ, and every topic gives me the same error message as Tengu.

I took a look at the forumdisplay template and noticed that it was missing </body> and </html> tags to properly close out a forum page. This wasn’t specific to General Questions so I doubt it is related to the problem some of you are experiencing but it’s been fixed nonetheless.

If the problem is still persisting then you each could help by providing me more information. Specifically I’d like to know:

  1. Operating system and version
  2. Browser and version
  3. Traceroute

Thanks,

Jerry

Hi Jerry, Mr. Administrator.

It’s better - today I can read General Questions threads on the first page. When I try looking at second page threads I get the same “no thread specified” error.

I’m using IE5 on Win95. Traceroute … can’t help you there. Unless someone tells me how to find that out.

Well, whatever the problem I was having was, it seems to have sorted itself out, but if it’ll help you figure it out:

Win98, IE5.0, Have no idea how to work out traceroute.

Here’s a good shareware program to try (it’s worth the bux):

Visual Route
