Genius sports commentary - Australian style.

Tonight on TV Eddie Maguire gets a rare interview with Wayne Gretsky. Talking about Canada’s loss to the US he tells Gretsky that although Canada played well they just “couldn’t get the ball in the net.” The Great One didn’t bat an eyelid.

Heheheh!

I had a good one watching the Olympic Ice Dancing recently, with the British commentators. One decidedly average pair skated with absolutely no commentary from the commentators, until a bit after the end where one commentator just said, ‘Meh!’

My favourite Aussie bit was years ago in the 1995 australian Formula 1 Grand Prix. Schumacher was trying to get past Jean Alesi, who defended his position to the point that they touched and IIRC both crashed. The british commentator (can’t remember if it was Murray Walker) said
“Well, I really don’t know what Alesi was thinking there”. His australian partner Alan Jones replied

“I reckon he was thinking ‘you’re not getting past me, you arrogant little kraut’”

:::stunned silence:::::

I never could find a clip of that on youtube :frowning:

And that’s one of the reasons Gretzky’s the Great One. :slight_smile:

Well, he wasn’t wrong, was he? I don’t think a single ball got into the US net that game.
