George Bush came to visit last night

Well, he visited my Mum and Dad at their house whilst I was staying there also. I was trying to fix my old bed (damn legs kept falling off) but each time I passed through the dining room he was there playing Trivial Pursuit with first my Dad, then my Mum. I don’t think he liked my cats much, or the little dog I used to have.

All in all, he’s gone up in my estimation now - he seemed a very nice man after all. Only thing is, he made me oversleep and I had to rush to get out to work…

J.

First he invades Iraq, then the jerkbag makes you oversleep?!

[Monty Python]

Buuurn’em!!

I think what surprised me most was his skill at Trivial Pursuit. Mind you, my Mum was doing ok too which is unheard of!!

Why didn’t he participate with both your parents at the same time? Is he a divider, not a uniter?

Your right. I think he is on record as having a policy of picking them off one by one…

Your right. QUOTE]
Doh. *You’re * right, of course (*and * you have to wait a minute to put it right!)

I guess I’ll bite after all…

Was this George Bush the president, George Bush the former president, George Bush the Martiju family friend, or George Bush the guy you made up?

George Bush the President.

I thought the oversleeping reference was enough of a clue you know.

“It was all a dream”? Too '80s…

I danced with a young Cary Grant on the night of my 61st birthday.

I saw Bob Hope on the news this morning. He was the senior officer at a three car smash with fatalities. He looked surprisingly young considering he’s dead and all. More sombre than I remember though.

Is that a criticism? Only the 80s are making a comeback you know (right-wing party in power, a PM who thinks they can do just about anything they like with no political repercussion, parties competing over the number of people they plan to make unemployed…)

Still, I guess it shows I visit these boards too much when my dreams are infused with GW…it’s just a surprise that **Reeder ** didn’t turn up to berate him.

What I hate is when dead celebrities guest star on your show. It happend to my with Gilda Ratner. She was very apologetic over how she looked, what with the cancer and all. I couldn’t figure out a polite way to tell her she was dead.

Y’know, I find “excuse me, I think you’ll find that you passed away” is always a nice way to give someone such news. I’ll go and look it up in Miss Manners though…

More likely a reference to the way the writers for Dallas explained away a whole season and brought back a dead, though popular, character. Dallas was a prime-time soap opera in the 80s. Afterwards the plot trick was used, spoofed and derided frequently on U.S. television for a few years.

I’m surprised he didn’t want to play Risk.

I had tea with John Edwards the other night. He made very nice scones and was inordinately proud of the fact that he grew the lemons himself.

He was even nicer-looking in, uh, person.

I’m a shrink and even I don’t know what to say about it!

Don’t forget the 80s fashions in all the stores now. And I’ve actually seen hints of 80s hairstyles cropping up. I don’t know about 80s-style music, but I’d love to see a surge of that come by to liven things up on the radio. Decent stuff though. (I love Fefe Dobson’s “Don’t Go (Girls and Boys)”. Sounds like it came off Madonna’s first album. And “Take Me Away” reminds me of something from Michael Jackson’s Bad.)

Anyhoo…
