I remember reading way back an interview with then President Bush, where he stated strong anti abortion stand in general yet admitted he would reconsider had the unwanted pregnancy been in his own family.
Is there a copy of that conversation on the net?
OK I’ll bump.
I think we haven’t seen much yet 'cause it is probably just the opposite migration. GHW Bush started out in politics very pro-choice for his time. He was the author of Family Planning Act of 1970 which was about planning & not abortion, but it still is the family planning cornerstone on which most laws around the world base themselves. Bush made some strong statements about the need for the UN to be involved in Family Planning.
And from about '73 on he tried to distance himself from those stands. Conservatives never really trusted him on the issue and it led to a mini-crisis when he appointed Loius Sullivan to head HHS (Sullivan was long a pro-choice guy and reversed himself to become Secretary). After that Bush made stronger and stronger pro-Life declarations and finally came out in favor of the “Mexico City Policy” which banned federal funding of Intl. Organizations performing abortions. By the end of his term Bush had vetoed 10 bills that could be considered pro-choice, more than any other President.

OTOH both Laura and Barbara Bush have said, on camera, that they do not want to see Roe v Wade overturned. Maybe that is what you are recalling…
